Article 】 Friends of 15 years: Korean Englishman & Joon Jung Young — a friendship questioned if it was worth + truth untold?

Josh and Jung Joon Young have been best friends for 15 years.

They have done many things together during their time of being acquaintances.

Among which includes:

- exchange students(?)

- travelling to destinations

- entertainment/media

- clubbing, an obvious fact known to South Korea

etc.

First time I learned about them was when I stumbled upon a video from Mnet variety show called "Two Young".

I know for sure that I haven't gone through the episodes.

Therefore, I will not go out of my comfort zone linking besides the ones linked.

Jung Joon Young made guest appearances in Korean Englishman's YouTube channel.

Unfortunately, however, there is no means for me to provide evidence as the videos are...

1. [+6,575, -49] | Never mind the fact that they were friends, it's because a bunch of people went to the video and started cursing at him leaving hate comments. Obviously he's going to remove it.

2. [+2,957, -53] | You ask "What does all this have to do with their friendship??"

ã…¡ã…¡;

Are there anyone who would like to take a picture with a criminal and release it?

3. [+1,486, -52] | There used to be so many people in the comment section calling him out for being rude against Jung Joon Young....

But all I noticed was how rude Jung Joon Young was all this time. ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ His personalities really came out.

4. [+1,346, -42] | Look at how people's true nature are, they don't change. Imagine how many celebrities out there with past scandals and problematic personalities got lucky because it got buried down and as soon as they earn some money, they would donate it to some foundations and pretend to be all kind and create an image that they are inherently clean since the beginning. You can't be deceived.

They all invest their money into remaking their appearance and getting rid of their rural looks, start wearing designer clothes so that they don't make it obvious, but they will never be able to get rid of their trash personalities.

Especially those ones who create their positive image just from one good drama OST or those ones who earns public love by coming out on variety shows, they all put up a show, those are all act. There are so many kids who have yet to be caught, that's why you can never bury the past! We need to investigate them all.

5. [+1,009, -80] | Ollie really has sharp eyesã…‹ã…‹ã…‹

2. [+1720, -42] They've been close friends for 15 years and went to clubs together. I bet they did it a lot.

3. [+1518, -34] You just have to answer this honestly. Did you see Jung Joon Young's golden phone or no?

Multiple news outlets covered about them.

A lot of people wants to know if this friendship was worth it?

Being friends with a criminal, best friends for more than a decade and a half.

That video of the girl bringing her underage sister to that date w JJY and Josh just makes my skin crawl even more. I know she didn't know about him but Josh sure did.

I'm sure Josh knew to an extent about JJY's nasty ass but him being directly involved? idk anw back to the friendship question. I would drop him like a hot potato.

Ah, I figured he’d delete them.

isnt this whole “guilty by association†mob mentality thing getting out hand? A lot of people are directing their anger at people who don’t even have any formal suspicions or charges against them.

I didn’t see that video, but what is the purpose of bringing a minor to an adult event/date/what have you, in the first place. Bad judgement call all around.

I didn't know, wow.

I've watched like 4 or 5 of his videos... But isn't he married to a Korean YouTuber? GabbiKook or something, that has a YT channel as well? I've seen some of her cooking videos...

Yikes.

WHAT A MESS.

So many friends this Joonyoung has. Friends who seemed to know all that he was up to wthplz.png

TBH I think the "15 years of friendship" is a little bit of hyperbole on the part of Josh --- they met when they were both overseas but it's not like they hung out every day -- or even every week or every month --- for 15 years.  That would be like me saying that my school friend has been my friend for over a decade (even though we keep in touch once every few months on facebook/etc only).

Regarding that remark about "other people's culture" --- Josh spent much of his formative years in China because of his dad's work and became friends with the Koreans at the same international school there, then ended up taking a year or two at Korean Uni.  He's stated before that like most children of parents who live overseas or are diplomats, he grew up without a solid sense of his parents' culture and found himself being drawn into his Korean friends' because he was surrounded by them.

So it's not like he's just some random koreaboo who lived in England his entire life and got interested in kdrama/kpop and started calling himself a blogger about Korea.

He's in a tough spot because this guy was his friend, but clearly it's a good idea to distance himself at least publicly considering the scandals involved.

In the first episode of Josh’s mom in Korea (think it was uploaded just a few days ago). She talked about his time in China at the international school and I believe she said something like “Josh came home one day and said he’s going to befriend the Korean kids, he’s going to make it workâ€. Kind of sounded like to me Josh chose to befriend the Korean students. There’s nothing wrong with that but it just doesn’t seem like he befriended them because he was surrounded by them, but rather it was a choice.

I knew someone was going to mention Josh and JJY's friendship. JJY appeared on one of Korean Englishman videos and that video is probably deleted by now. Josh and JJY talked about and their friendship. I don't remember what Ollie said I think he said something about JJY and people started leaving rude comments about him. I don't think Ollie doesn't know JJY that well.

So are we really going to blame all of his friends now? This is ridiculous! It's like when someone's dad commits a crime and his children are blamed. People, grow up.

Ehh. I never felt that they were actually “friends†for 15 years. More like they “knew†each other for 15 years. In the Mnet variety show, they didn’t seem close at all. And I was able to watch the Salty Tour episode and when they were being quizzed about how close they were, they practically couldn’t answer correctly. Just ny two cents.

This is a Jekyll and Hyde situation. JJY has a separate persona to the people he knows and works with.  He has a wholesome persona for his work and probably some friends and acquaintances, the Jekyll persona and to his close friends like Seungri, another persona, the dark Hyde persona.  It exists  in everybody, a person can have different personalities in dealing with different people.

Josh might not really know anything and I doubt he would continue to associate with JJY if he did know something and I'm basing this with his personality in the Korean Englishman and Jolly videos... but I could be wrong but I'm leaning more towards not...

Josh definitely sniffed the shady stuff JJY did, but he probably just turned a blind-eye to it. During their so called "15 years of friendship"

Unless it's just a hyperbole

Y'all act like being friends with someone means you know everything lol. I am the type to ignore weird shit so I wouldn't know even if I was friends with someone for that long. Someone who I was friends with and now less still doesn't know certain things about me even though we've known each other for more than 10 years. We are still friends when we talk.

I think people need to calm down and stop assuming that people know everything about someone. We see time and time again with certain criminals they lead double lives where they try to keep an image to people they know including family.

I dont know half the stuff some of my family does let alone friends.
