With the downfall of Big Bang, BTS are the undisputed #1 BG in South Korea. BTS is a group full of hard-working men with GOOD personalities, so it's well-deserved!


I think they can get #1 with their next comeback. I've noticed an influx of alternative American girlies/Asian Americans stanning BTS, so it's only a matter of time they're capable of producing the results that will push them to #1.

EDIT: It seems like I wasn't too clear. BTS are without a doubt the #1 K-POP group in America and have been for years. Their only competition in South Korea was BB, who will be nothing but a distant memory moving forward. They are only behind the Jonas Brothers right now in America.

if rihanna, kendrick, sia and justin all drop albums the same week it will be hard but as long as they chart with those kind of A-list names they'll still look good. might even make their fans work harder to make them #1 - who knows!

Guys BB 200 =/= Hot 100, the OP is asking about the singles chart

On topic: Honestly it's not looking too likely. They're still in that cycle of debuting high and then free falling in the following weeks, they need to get out of that frontloaded state. They have multiple barriers that Western artists don't face, they would have to have a lot of luck to do so. If they do have get a #1 then it'll probably be a sleeper hit.

Getting a #1 is way beyond fandom power (even massive) especially atm. A top 10 maybe a top 5? Is most likely but again they don’t have the same amount of spins that the others receive as long as they have this issue with radio a #1 is highly unlikely in my opinion. Plus the issue with hot100 is that radio (a variable we can’t manage) is quite heavy in the weighting around 30-40% if I’m not mistaken. If we manage to get radio on board and gp to force a #1 then yes otherwise nah

 

Also mind you but BB billboard’s history consists of one hit charting in the lower part of BB200. Never touched hot100. BTS are doing their thing regardless whether the kpop sphere is burning down or not.

#1 requires lots and lots and lots of radio play....who knows? A lot of people were saying that they’ll never make it to the top 10 and yet they did. If not this cb maybe in the next one they might have a chance.
