WayV Have Not Officially Debuted Yet?! They Will Debut In 2nd Quarter.

Recommended Posts

Take this with a grain of salt.

"WayV is expected to make its official debut in the second quarter of this year. They are showing positive responses in the market, including in Chinese entertainment industry and Billboard chart."

Some people are saying that SM is just testing the waters with Regular/Comeback/Dream Launch.

If WayV does officially debut, I want a physical album and original songs and promotions (I know China works differently but I hope the boys get to perform their new songs live).

SM needs to realize that China is different and the best way to get WayV's name out is to throw the members in high profile variety shows and dramas. The power of the team will lie on how every individual WayV member will gain relevance on their own, that's always been how Chinese pop groups work (see SHE, F4, Fahrenheit, Twins, Nine Percent, TF Boys, Rocket Girls). SM needs to find a way their popularity will be distributed and this means they NEED to hustle to get every single member relevant gigs in China.

This is not Korea where two members of a group will hard carry the rest of the team into relevance. SM needs to ensure every single member is doing some sort of relevant activity in the public eye in China if they want the WayV brand to hold its own against all the Chinese pop groups mushrooming everywhere recently.

You know that is what sm is scared of the most, especially that we are talking about chinese members here. Giving that much power into these member's hands is dangerous. They don't want another KrisHanTao but at the same time, not letting those boys promote is sinking their ship. I seriously don't understand sm, especially that they took WinWin out of 127, hmm I wonder if they are planning to let him be a full timer in China. But as I've said, knowing sm's past, they are scared of losing WinWin.

Oh well. It's good idea to try again

I love them very much and i'm cheering up for their success but even fans on twitter say they flopped

I remember a comment i read saying "regular did flop, it wasn't able to stay on the charts despite being free. not only that, the charting was the effort of intl fans too which is chart manipulation"

well if they flopped, its 100percent SMs fault. if they are scared of losing Chinese members, they shouldnt include them from the start. half-assing apparently wont work in China. treating them like human beings and capable artists would maybe also help in not losing them imstupid.png

Honestly, SM doesn't know what they're up against. When they debuted EXO-M they had no competition. Now you have all these survival shows giving trainees daily exposure for months and all the groups that come out of these shows...I have no idea why WayV are still living in Korea and everyone except for Lucas and Winwin are unemployed. Is it really that difficult for them just to do a live-stream?

thats true, but the paradoxical thing about this is that the less they give the members, the more theyll want to leave. having too much power or too little power both can be dangerous. i think they need to find a middle ground where they regulate the amount of solo activities the members have, but still give them the artistic freedom or direction to choose different projects or try something new. SM still needs to learn how to do that... they seem to only know how to do either extreme. ex. zhang li yin who got almost NOTHING vs. victoria who now has unofficially left f(x) to focus only on china.
