Are there pretty much no good reasons to brag as an individual?

it's not "unwanted attention" if they want it lol.

i mean, what is bragging anyway? is bragging just celebrating your achievements or does it have to be in the context of trying to minimize someone else's achievement or doing it excessively etc? even then, what is "excessively"...

i think it's fine for people to celebrate their achievements lol it's good to take pride in your achievements. that's what keeps a lot of us going.

I meant unwanted attention from other people. What would you say is a good way to celebrate one's achievement that isn't obnoxious like bragging is?

Excessively putting yourself down is as annoying as excessively bragging about yourself

Anything in excess can become annoying, be it a "good" or a "bad" thing

I mean you don't have to put yourself down? Just remain neutral and not mention anything at all.

obnoxiousness is subjective. it kind of just sounds like you resent hearing about other people's successes. why does it bother you so much?

I mean... that's just restraining yourself way too much? Why would you not mention anything at all? Everyone surely thinks of themselves some kind of way and if they do it positively it might lead to bragging, if they do it negatively it might lead to putting themselves down

Just a find a balance and make sure it's not over the top and it should be fine

You’ve got to brag during job interviews. They’ll only hire you if you tout yourself as the best of the best. You won’t get hired if you fade into the background.

This. It's a fine balance to make sure you make yourself look good and talk yourself up while simultaneously not seeming like an arrogant self-important asshole.
