txt is gearing up for quite the explosive debut in about 11 hours. of course it will take a few comebacks and more activities from them to solidify their status as the 4th gen torch bearers. but i feel like 3rd is as set in stone as it can be. a new generation of top groups is upon us and from the new bgs, already debuted and upcoming,  txt is already looking like a front runner, if not THE front runner.

thoughts?

4th gen will start when the huge groups of 3rd gen (TWICE, BTS, EXO, BP) all slow down.

Until BTS, Twice, Red Velvet, Blackpink are no longer in their prime, this is still 3rd gen. We're kind of like in 3.5 gen much like AOA, Apink and EXO are 2.5 gen.

i somewhat agree with this but, like, is it impossible for multiple generations to coexist? i mean, there was a stark distinction between first and second gen because legit all of the first gen groups disbanded. second  gen did indeed fall off significantly leaving ample space for third gen tho many of those groups are still around, but idk. i feel like there could be multiple lvls of multigenerational successful groups existing in the same space.

1st Generation - 1991 - 1999 (8 years)

~ gap of 4 years before TVXQ debuted) ~

2nd Generation - 2003 - 2011 (8 years)

3rd Generation -  2012 - ?  2020

4th Generation -  2021 - 2029 (estimate)

going by pattern

a new kpop starts every 8 or so years

so pretty much

they could be seen more as 3.5 gen

Like  fx to SNSD or Shinee to Superjunior

Itzy & TXT are seen more as compliments to their seniors rather than "replacements" so this generation hasn't really ended yet

4th generation starts around 2021/2022. 2nd generation started like a year or two after Boa debuted which was 2000. So 2nd gen started around 2001/2002. 3rd gen started 2012 with the rivalry of EXO and B.A.P. We are currently in 3.5 gen, once 2021/2022 hits and these 3rd gen idols start fading out then there'll be a shift. Though I guess the whole thing CAN be quite confusing to keep track of.
