ArticleJoo Kyulkyung to take legal action against dating rumors with chaebol Wang Sicong

Source: Newsis via Naver

1. [+2,631, -63] Our country honestly needs to stop picking Chinese members. South East Asian or Japanese members don't run like the Chinese ones do, and their countries' fans help out with the YouTube views. Got7 and BLACKPINK are practically considered national groups in Thailand while IZ*ONE is super hot in Japan and TWICE has sky-soaring popularity in Taiwan. The groups with Chinese members suffer from Hallyu bans and don't even get any exposure in the Chinese media because of it.

2. [+1,302, -119] These cases are usually referred to as sponsors

3. [+781, -47] Heck, I'd rather get married to a chaebol than waste my time as an idol

4. [+420, -43] Even if they were dating, what's so wrong about that? Please just worry about your own lives...

5. [+121, -7] He's like a sponsor but also uses these female celebrities to invest in Korean companies, which is obviously to launder his money, and which the agencies also get a cut of ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹

6. [+96, -2] Please stop training these Chinese stars in Korea who end up becoming celebs over in China later..

7. [+79, -0] Three generations could live off of his wealth ã…‹

8. [+54, -2] Joo Kyulkyung has an agency in China too. This is why all the Chinese members run away once you debut them tsk tsk, look at EXO and Super Junior.

Hope Knetz don’t blame the Chinese idols themselves for this. The vast majority are being sent back to China to make the Korean agency money... and it’s not like they have much of a choice in the matter. Case-in-point Kyulkyung, WayV, Lay, Victoria... the list goes on. They’re still honoring their contracts and are in China because their company wants them to be there. Just hope that’s clear.

But the Korean companies managing them get a percentage of their earnings in China.

For context, China pays multiple times much higher than the talent fees anyone could get in Korea, plus the fan economy there really makes the Korean one look quite miniscule and prudent.

Like Hwang Chiyeul said - one TV appearance in China can pay almost more than 10x than one in Korea, in addition Korean companies just sending only one or two idols in China really help cut the cost of feeding, styling and looking out for them. Take for instance, an idol group with a lot of members in Korea also need a huge entourage to do their make up, as well as feed them. An activity in China will pay more while the Korean company cuts cost because one idol doesn't need tons of people in their party. At times all they need is one manager.

From a business sense, it actually is clever but there's the risk that your Chinese idol will be showered with proposals from local Chinese companies trying to sign them up lmao and that's sort of the angle Korean companies are still learning how to handle.

lmao korean entertainment companies arent stupid. theyre BUSINESSES. if chinese members arent going to bring them pro theyre not going to cast them.

victoria and lay's activities in china for example are making SM bank. and whats wrong with going back to their home country to do activities...?

victoria has been with SM for 12 years and lay for 11 years.........

the only chinese members that left their groups were luhan, kris, and tao, and hangeng from super junior. but not because they were "running" but because they were being mistreated..... and i love how knetz have selective memory. what about jaejoong, yoochun, and junsu leaving dbsk? sulli leaving f(x)? kibum leaving super junior? do they get excuses because theyre korean? smfh

and why should jieqiong ROT AWAY in korea with pledis not doing SHIT for pristin? of course shes going to take any opportunities she has to make money and actually do WORK to provide for herself, her family, and her members. the little shes doing in china is probably, quite literally putting food on the table for the rest of pristin right now.

Also for context.

Wang Sicong is a whole league of his own in terms of wealth. Like someone said, if he feels like it, he definitely has the cash to buy all Big 3 + Bighit if he wanted to. His family owns Wanda, afaik even CJ isn't as powerful as Wanda globally. His family owns the AMC theatres. His dad almost bought Dick Clark productions in 2017. That's the level you're looking at.

This guy is more than your ordinary chaebol. He's the ONLY SON of the richest man in China. He's gonna inherit ALL OF IT.

* Dick Clark - as in the company that does the BBMAs and NYRE.

say it louder for the people in the back!! i'm so tired of knetz and i-fans being sinophobic to chinese kpop idols. I saw some people shit-talking yuqi just because she was cast for running man, saying cube better be careful or she would "run away" smh unsure.png
