Oprah Winfrey said she is prepared to face down critics of her decision to interview the two men who accuse Michael Jackson of sexual abuse in new documentary

Oprah Winfrey is standing by the two men who are accusing the late Michael Jackson of sexual abuse in the new documentary, Leaving Neverland.

For an interview special with the accusers — which will air immediately following the documentary makes its television debut on HBO over the weekend — the talk show host said that after watching the documentary she called up the film’s director and producer, Dan Reed, to say that he had succeeded in illustrating, in just a few hours, what she had tried to explain about sexual abuse in 217 episodes of The Oprah Winfrey Show over 25 years.

“I know people all over the world are gonna be in an uproar and debating whether or not Michael Jackson did these things or not, did he do it or not do it, whether these two men are lying or not lying,†Winfrey, 65, said during the taping of the special, which is titled Oprah Winfrey Presents: After Neverland.

She continued, “But for me, this moment transcends Michael Jackson. It is much bigger than any one person. This is a moment in time that allows us to see this societal corruption. It’s like a scourge on humanity and it’s happening right now. It’s happening in families.â€

Since Oprah herself is a victim of sexual abuse, I'm glad she's at least giving the men a voice since a lot of people are still trying to bury this

Tbh I find it doubtful that afro-american person could do all these crimes in reality of american racism (decades ago it was even worse) and could get away with it without any punishment. If he was some white dude it would sound more believable.

And again, I'm not american so I guess I don't have anything to say regarding this issue. I only can ask some questions:

Are their words proven facts? And how is M.J. supposed to defend himself? Through his family members?

But nowadays "questions are offensive" more than smth else so don't mind me.

Signed back in just to say I 100% agree with her.

imo so many shady things were overlooked in that case... so many times I considered making a thread about it (after doing some personal research and finding so many shocking things), but knowing how defensive people are about their idols to a huge fault... imstupid.png I never bothered.

I saw another user even tried to bring up the subject once, but they were quickly shot down.

Michael Jackson was cleared of all allegations

and before people try to come after me

I love r kelly's music but my ass was still yelling for his ass to be jailed

all im saying is I find it real funny how fresh accusers started popping up when MJ was about to expose sony and how he up and died before he could expose their rank asses but then again people LOVE to wear rose colored glasses and refuse to see and question foul play things like these... so carry on Oprah (who by the way i've been side eyeing since the whole monique incident)

Amidst all the recent controversies im taking this as sony's one last jab especially when you review oprah's long standing relations with sony but back to my studying for my test tomorrow

By Sony you mean Sony Music?!

Are they so powerful to accuse people of horrible things??? Cos I have no idea about power balance in american showbiz.

Michael was crucified by everyone up til death.

He's dead now and people are still trying to condemn him. Let him rest in peace.

Cancel culture and SJWs are becoming the most annoying people i've seen.

Why stand up now A DECADE after he passed away. Quit ruining this man.

This is a ridiculous and dangerous statement. She basically says Michael Jackson's guilt or innocence doesn't matter if it can cast a bigger light on sexual abuse victims.

His guilt/innocence is the #1 issue. If he didn't do anything(and he was investigated repeatedly) instead of this being a moment showing sexual abuse, it can instead show the dangers of how adults can either intentionally or unintentionally shape a child's memories for their own adult agenda.

People have been trying to hunt MJ down with sexual abuse allegiations since late 90's. That combined with the fact that he's been cleared of all accusations long ago makes me suspect that this is just a cheap money grab, sorry.

The FBI investigated Michael for 10 years and found him completely innocent.

When asked if he found any of the child molestation accusations to be true, the vocal nephew of the pop legend spoke in Jackson’s defense as the allegations being false and went on to reveal that the Federal Bureau of Investigation investigated the Thriller singer for 10 years and have found no evidence proving the claims to be true.

“One hundred percent no. My uncle was one of the most scrutinized people in the world. He has a secret ten year FBI investigation going on him that no one knew about,†Taj said. “Three hundred pages of documents, not one shred of evidence. They would have locked him up if they had something.â€

According to a 2009 CNN report, just six months after Jackson’s shocking death, the FBI published 17 years worth of accumulated data on Jackson online. The information was made publicly available in lieu of the Freedom of Information Act.

Taj went on to say, “When your name is Michael Jackson, you’re just a target.â€

Not related to this, but I don't agree on the argument that people should not discuss about crime accusations against someone who has already died just because they're dead...

I agree.
