Article: (G)I-DLE Soyeon apologizes, "I didn't realize it was an illegal music program"

Source: Segye Ilbo via Nate

1. [+1,021, -87] She's only sorry she got caught, I bet she would've kept using it if she never got caught

2. [+931, -138] "As a creative"? As if.. what a joke ã…Žã…Ž

3. [+852, -94] The name of the program is 'Crack', how did she not know that it's illegal?? She's really calling this an apology;;?

4. [+68, -5] She should prove that she bought the original program them

5. [+67, -21] You guys are such hypocrites. 90% of Windows users in Korea are using illegal copies. So lenient when it comes to your own crimes but harsh when it comes to others, right?

6. [+64, -3] You really had to have known that it was illegal when you're using 'Crack' ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ She should've just been honest and admit it and apologize;;

7. [+56, -3] It's such an expensive program, how could she not have known?

8. [+48, -4] How did she "not know"? ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ I've never seen an original program come in a zip file ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹

9. [+42, -4] It's like someone having porn on their desktop and claiming they didn't know it was porn when they got caught!

10. [+36, -14] You guys need to stop acting like you're all so moral when I bet you download movies with a torrent

1. [+4,200, -291] She's obviously in the wrong here but I think it's good that she admitted to it. I hope to see her continue to work hard while keeping her promise!!

2. [+1,942, -56] There are tons of people who use cracks in this industry... I hope this is an opportunity for people to get a conscience.

3. [+2,395, -561] But are any of you clean enough yourselves to criticize her?

4. [+1,777, -177] You're fine. There's another agency involved in all sorts of scandals that get it all buried just fine, what you did is nothing compared to them.

5. [+990, -92] What's important here is that they uploaded the clip themselves ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ They really had no idea why using programs like that is wrong ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹

6. [+260, -33] Well she's claiming to reflect over it... I'd rather go hate on Seungri some more in the time I'm spending on her.

7. [+237, -84] How do you expect a trainee to be able to afford the original program? ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ At least she gave nice clean feedback. Most celebrity apologies are filled with excuses. At least she's admitting her fault.

8. [+230, -82] So I guess this means it's okay to illegally download their songs as long as we apologize. YouTubers, please go ahead and use their songs in your videos.

9. [+195, -62] We'll download your songs illegally and call it even

10. [+144, -39] All you Korean men better keep your mouths shut with your illegally downloaded songs, movies, and pornos---!

I don't care if she downloads it but to say you didn't know it was an illegal program???? Not only does it clearly say crack on the folder but the entire setup procedure for cracks are usually very different from installing a legitimate program. She should be dragged for this tragic lie.

I would say, don’t use illegal programs to create products for commercial use. Otherwise, go off.

We all know we’ve never paid for winrar so none of us can throw stones.

This. I literally never heard of anybody paying for winrar ever.

To all of you she never said she didn't know, I don't know where the fuck you are getting that quote from.. Here is a part of her quote

"Firstly, I am truly reflecting on my actions of using and having pirated files. From what I remember, I used those files when I first started learning about composing music because I wanted to use many different programs and learn about them."

Source

She used this program when she was a trainee TO LEARN how to make music and never removed it from her desktop. If you see her desktop you would understand.

Maybe you should read first.

Also as to "doesn't she have money".. she was a trainee and a student and Cube did not give a license to her. I am sure every student in the world has been legit and always spent thousands on buying all there software or even there windows version.imstupid.png  fking hypocrites

You said this

"I don't care if she downloads it but to say you didn't know it was an illegal program???"

Where does it say she did not know it was an illegal program?

"Hello, this is Soyeon.

First, I would like to apologize for causing concern with this shameful incident. I am writing this post on the fan cafe because I feel as though I should speak up about the matter myself.

Firstly, I am truly reflecting on my actions of using and having pirated files. From what I remember, I used those files when I first started learning about composing music because I wanted to use many different programs and learn about them.

I am reflecting on not immediately deleting those files, and not realizing that they were still on my laptop.

From the moment I began to fully commit to my composition work till now, I have only used officially licensed programs. However, I should have been more thoughtful of copyright as someone who is a creator myself, but I was ignorant and this has caused you great concern, and for that I apologize once more.

From now on, I will study harder and act more carefully to ensure that I do not possess or use any pirated files in the future."

Hello, this is Cube Entertainment.

We would like to give our official statement on the controversy surrounding Soyeon’s use of pirated programs.

The program in question were downloaded when Soyeon was a trainee and was just beginning to learn about composing music in the process of her using various programs and learning about them. The program was never used again after Soyeon began seriously committing to musical composition.

We have confirmed that all of Soyeon’s compositions that have been released till now were created with a licensed Logic program, instruments we own, as well as Splice, which requires a monthly subscription fee.

However, Soyeon is aware that downloading and using pirated software is not forgivable under any circumstance and is reflecting on her actions.

We apologize for not being more aware and not properly supervising the work environment of our trainees and artists, and we will do our best to supervise and provide the necessary support to our artists and trainees in their journey as creators to ensure that they do not have to turn to unlawful means.

We wish to apologize once again for causing concern.

Thank you.
