Chinese actress Fan Bingbing was hit by a tax evasion scandal late last year, when former CCTV host, Cui Yongyuan uploaded evidence of the actress signing ‘yin-yang contracts’ in a bid to evade taxes.

Since then, the actress has laid low, with reports speculating that she will be retiring from the spotlight. However, Bingbing recently uploaded a selfie on her Weibo, wishing everyone a happy Chinese New Year to the delight of her fans who have been hoping for her to return to the spotlight.

Yongyuan previously mentioned that he still has more evidence of Bingbing’s law-breaking ways. He confirmed in a series of posts on Weibo that he will not hesitate to reveal everything if Bingbing stages her showbiz comeback. Other than exposing the actress’s tax scandal, he has also exposed a case of high-level corruption in Shanghai’s police department, implicating a number of big-wigs.

Recently, his good friend, Chinese actress Yuan Li posted on Weibo, revealing that she has been unable to contact the host. She expressed her hope that he was healthy and well in a follow-up post. However, these posts have since been deleted.

With the recent news that Bingbing will be making her acting comeback in the film, Lady Killer, some netizens couldn’t help but to wonder if Yongyuan’s disappearance was connected to Bingbing’s comeback, and this has since sparked a fierce online debate on the coincidental timing of the two happenings.

She just uploaded some selfie, I don't think she's planning to comeback anytime soon.

But then again, everything's possible.

Oh really? May I ask which movie?

L.O.R.D 2 still doesn't have a release date.

And I'm waiting for The Legend of Ba Qing, but it seems that drama will never see the light of day...

Ba Qing has a lot more going on its plate, not just FBB. The main thing here is still about the male lead who is currently being accused of sexual assault.

She kills, i think ? I might remembered it wrongly though. But i did see the posters being released on february though not with the date. And i strongly believe she would make a comeback not long from now. Well if she didnt i m fine with it too,it s not like her acting would be missed. It s only her red carpet moment that i would missed.

Nay, she is under hong kong agency. That agency is being hated by mainland agency for monopolize the whole china market. Even CPC cannot do anything about it other than setting production cost quota regulation.

I hope he’s safe, but did he think he was safe from any blowback? Whistleblowing is a dangerous game even in countries that have protections for whistleblowers because in the end, you’re pissing off and screwing with the money of wealthy people with connections. Some entity, government or otherwise, had to question where he got this information and how long he was sitting on it.

And given how Fan Bingbing’s disappearance gained international notoriety (Vanity Fair has a new article up on their website about it that’s worth reading, FYI), the ironic thing is, I’m not putting it past Hollywood to eventually make a movie about this whole affair.
