According to a JTBC newsreport, Big Bang's Seungri registered his club, 'Monkey Museum,' as a 'retail store' instead of an entertainment establishment to avoid paying high taxes.

'Monkey Museum' is a club in Gangnam which was once operated by Seungri. The idol star was frequently seen DJ-ing at the club in the past. Currently, the club is owned by Yuri Holdings.

According to JTBC, many complaints were filed to the city of Gangnam regarding 'Monkey Museum' and the establishment was once suspended, however, it continued to operate after paying the fine.

Despite the blatant signs of violation, the city of Gangnam claimed they did not find any violations at 'Monkey Museum.' A rep of Gangnam city stated, "There was no open space for the customers to dance like a club when we went to check the area."

A rep from Yuri Holdings also stated, "We have operated within the boundaries set by the law. It's difficult to check the details of the situation because the people who used to work during that time have left."

Along with 'Monkey Museum,' 14 out of 21 entertainment establishments including bars and clubs in Gangnam were revealed to have been registered as a 'retail store' or a 'restaurant.'

JTBC additionally explained entertainment establishments are required to pay additional taxes. For instance, if the profit equals 10 million KRW, a restaurant must pay 900,000 KRW in taxes, while an entertainment establishment is responsible for higher taxes, around 1.9 million KRW.
