For the multiple choice if you don't know a answer..GUESS!

Don't take too long on the multiple choice because the time limit is short~

Which AP exam are you taking and what day is it?

Mine is this week

///I should stop procrastinating lolll!

AP U.S do you know all the presidents and key terms?

Also how well are you at DBQ's?? I suggest looking at past exam DBQ to get a feel of the format and stuff but none of those questions will ever be repeated

Make sure you have something to eat before, and you're well rested. Testing takes like hours so you need to have as much energy as you can. Skip multiple choice questions that will take a long time so you can get the short ones done first, then work on the longer multiple choice questions and guess if you don't know the answer, because they don't count wrong answers against you. Just make sure you get as many questions done as you can in the short time they give you.

For free responses, make sure you plan your time accordingly. The recommended time schedule they tell you is really helpful imo

What AP Test are you taking?

Ok you're taking U.S. History, make sure you give good details about historical events when mentioning them in FRQ's. Don't mention something you know nothing about.

I remember taking the US history exam. I would say work on learning how to write a proper DBQs and FRQs  especially the DBQ since it is worth a lot of points.

It's easy to get a 4 on that test, but if you want a 5, study a lot.

You'll have plenty of time on the MC if you pace yourself, but the essays write quickly and as much as possible.

Make sure you get plenty of sleep and eat a proper breakfast. Good luck!  :ilikeit:

I got a 4 on that test lol

Don't forget to guess if you run out of time. The AP removed the penalty for getting an answer wrong a few years ago, so guessing no longer hurts you.

also, the APUSH test last year along with calc and english were relatively easy. could be a bad sign for this year, but the tests are supposed to be pretty similar year to year so idk

I've never taken an AP exam before and I'm aiming for a 4 or 5. Any tips? Tricks?

Anything would help.

Thanks

(I'm taking the U.S. History course if that makes any difference)

If it makes you feel any better I thought I was going to fail my APUSH test because I seemed to never know what was going on in class and got Bs on like all my tests. I just did a few practice multiple choice tests the week before the exam, no hardcore studying, and I ended up getting a 4. So there's hope!

Going through review books and practice tests is definitely one of the most helpful things! Just because it's rather ambitious to try to completely study/relearn an entire course in the span of a few days.

Also remember that getting 50% is still a 3 and counts for credit! I think that takes some of the pressure off. Especially when you take practice tests and see how many questions you actually have to get right to get a score that you want. It makes the goal more realistic.

Good luck on your first test! (I have 4 tests this year OTL)

Get a good rest and don't try to cram the night before. Make sure to eat breakfast prior to taking the exam.

Don't leave any multiple choice questions unanswered.

I know it's kinda late now and you might already have one, but at least for the future, keep in mind Princeton Review books are lifesavers when preparing for the AP tests. They condense the most important material down to about 200 pages which is very doable even if you're studying last minute. They include practice multiple choice, essay prompts, and even full-fledged tests so you can time/grade yourself. A lot of the questions they use show up on the real test. (I hope it doesn't sound like I'm advertising for them or something lol)
