Netizens wondered about the success of post 'Produce 101' groups.

The 3 groups brought up were PRISTIN, Weki Meki, and Gugudan. All three groups, especially PRISTIN, feature prominent 'Produce 101' contestants, and more importantly, ex-IOI members. All three groups had enjoyed the spotlight when they debuted, but now, all three groups are objectively not doing so well.

Netizens have attributed the lack of success of the groups mostly due to bad management by the companies. PRISTIN hasn't had an album in a long time even after PRISTIN V, and Kyla is rumored to have left the group. Gugudan's Hyeyeon has also left the group, and even the 3-member 'Produce 101' group did not see much success. Weki Meki is also failing to see much success even with their albums.

It is also believed that there are too many members in addition to the 'Produce 101', and that many of the members' concepts clash.

What do you think of the three groups?

Excuse me? Weki meki doing bad? SInce when? they have pretty good physicals.

Declining album sales as time goes by. Debut with 49,476 on Gaon, Lucky with 33,306, kiss, kicks with 22,281. The post produce hype is evaporating and their polarizing first two releases can't have helped either.  People won't stick around a group if they don't see them going anywhere.

Pristin is the most obvious case, i think we all know what the problem is :(

WeMe is.. if we're going to judge it by physical sales only they keep declining. their debut sales was highest (50k-ish?) among other groups in 2017 but it just goes down after that.. the hype of Yoojung+Doyeon and their girl-crush, hiphop-ish concept might catch many fans at first but unfortunately, there are other groups that better at that department (BP, G-idle) imo, so people seemed to lost interest. ...and Iron Boy should have been the title! lol.

as for Gugudan.. yeah. i think it's still about imbalance of activities thingy. they also don't have that great physical sales to begin with.. The Boots should have won them some music show tbh. that song is damn good.

My thoughts are...

Gu9udan: Bad management and rushed debut. The company stopped I.O.I promotions to debut them and they did fine until 'A Girl Like Me' but since then, I don't hear much about them. I mean, with their last comeback I only knew because the MV was in a recommendation from a Youtube video. I think that in this case Sejeon should've debuted as a solo artist and MINA in a TTS or Orange Caramel type of group of 3-4, no more.

Weki Meki: Too risqué. They are still trying to pursue a concept/sound that I think pulled off well with their latest comeback. Plus ITZY's sound reminded me of them, so maybe thanks to their success people will see that WeMe is doing that teen crush concept too. Here I think it's because the sound, it's still all over the place.

Pristin: Well... Pledis, ofc. They had a strong debut, a good cb and a great sub-unit, I don't understand why can't they promote as 9 for the time being, like just don't get it. They are the example when I saw a company screwed up a GG career and I fear for their rookies (this is too for BlackPink, Twice and Red Velvet), I'm just scared that the history will be repeating.

In the end is the poor management. See how Wanna One's members will see gold in whatever they do, but here they couldn't even managed Somi for God's sake.
