ArticleSeventeen's manager, "One million won a day on food, over 30 staff with them for music shows"

Source: OSEN via Nate

1. [+565, -18] The members are nice with great manners but seeing as how they've gone through 15 different managers, it must be a difficult job with low pay.. I'm sure all managers have it tough but idol managers must have it particularly hard..

2. [+440, -6] I think groups with a lot of members should have more managers. At least five managers for a 13 member group, no?

3. [+327, -6] Wow, that's a lot of expenses just on maintaining the group... a lot of suffering for the managers

4. [+43, -1] They're the group that makes the best money in Pledis, they need more support than this. Only three managers for 13 members;; it's hard on both the singers and the managers.

5. [+31, -3] But is it necessary for the managers to have to wake them up and find who's where for them?? The manager's job is to take care of their schedule, the singers should be required to wake up on their own and be there on time... Tell the manager if you're going to the bathroom so they don't have to look for you~ I think it's the singers who make the manager's job harder than it should be.

6. [+30, -3] I could feel his difficulties just by watching the video... ㅜㅜ Find strength to everyone who makes it possible behind the scenes...!

7. [+26, -0] It's different being a manager for an actor versus an idol. I think idol managers don't get paid nearly enough with how intense the scheduling and care are.

8. [+24, -2] I can tell that it must be a tougher job than most because they have so many members and with how often they go through different managers ㅜㅜ

9. [+22, -2] It really does look tough...

10. [+17, -0] The managers should be paid more for the job but instead of paying them more, the agency would rather switch them out.. Why would you want to work at a busy convenience store in Seoul for the same pay as a store that gets no customers in the suburbs?

do they only have one manager at a time? thats surprising... even iKON with only 7 members has at least 2 at a time

this is the article in question, I think they have 3

https://onehallyu.com/topic/771454-soompi-seventeen%E2%80%99s-manager-reveals-how-much-the-group-spends-on-food-each-day/

Jun Young Hwan also talked about just how many people are involved in helping SEVENTEEN get ready to perform on a music show. “A total of 10 [makeup artists and hairstylists] came that day,†he explained, “and they come from two different salons. Because one salon isn’t able to handle all 13 members.â€

“So there were 13 [sEVENTEEN] members, three stylists, 10 people to do hair and makeup, three managers, and three additional staff members [just at that music show],†he continued. “There are typically about 34 people traveling together in SEVENTEEN’s party.â€

This is probably talking about the main manger.

Usually this manager might sleep in the dorm with the group too.

Ideally the singers should be able to wake up and arrive at schedules on their own but with how badly sleep deprived they are that's not really possible...especially during music show promotions, when idols often pull all-nighters

They have only 3 managers? :omg: That's too few for such a huge group.

BTS has at least 8 managers

And didn’t BTS have like 3 when they were nugu and they’re half the size of seventeen.

Pledis needs to stop doing dirty by it’s employees.

Yeah that's crazy, 3 for 13 people. No wonder they keep quitting.

Even when BTS was tiny, they had more than one manager, and even to this day, you can see Sejin looming over everyone in the background so clearly the risk vs reward there has always been worth it.

Seventeen does much beyond a typical idol group already and they make Pledis good money so it's frustrating to see them with shit for support. It's bad for them and bad for the staff, I'm sure Seventeen feels bad when their managers get overworked and leaves as well, but honestly, idol groups need to be micromanaged because of the varied types of schedules that pop up and the constant state of sleep deprivation they seem to be operating in.

A little bit context

-there is 3 road manager(they only give one for the show) and some main manager (they call them representative) who give coordination and do stuff behind

-for wake up part, member have alarm but the manager just make sure they all wake up so they dont late as they have lots member and their schedule is packed

-this shoot is recorded in their comeback time 2nd week, normally their schedule is not busy except for woozi who write song everyday lol

-pledis need to pay their manager more

They're questioning why the managers have to wake them up... That's not on the idols, for the first few years of a group, the agency is super controlling and the "grip" lessens considerably as the group goes on, idk if this is only if the group becomes successful, the agency lightens up.

Your right, but I have to say something about Pledis. Svt and now nu'est are making money now but it wasn't very long ago that the company was about to go bankrupt. They were saved by svt honestly and their financial situation is slowly getting better but maybe they still can't afford to hire a lot of staff. Manpower is expensive and for all the money Svt make a lot of the money that goes to Pledis probably already goes into paying everybody. 30+ is a huge number of people to have to pay and carry around so it doesn't surprise me that maybe they can't afford to hire anyone else. Or they're just being cheapskates idk
