How do you feel about idols who drop out of high school because of their schedule?

I think it should be like in the US-child entertainers have tutors who come to set/their schedule place to teach them. There are also special schools in places like New York and LA for working children that work with their schedules. To me this seems like necessity if you are going to allow children to act, sing, and dance professionally.

Being an idol is their job so do they really need to keep studying... on top of that if they're in a known group they probably will have jobs waiting for them on TV once the group disbands or they will even be able to release music as a solo artist, after all in the years they usually drop out, the education they receive is mostly preparing them for college which will prepare them for a specific job, and they don't really need that, they already received the basic education which is what matters

I don't feel well about this... i mean yeah you shouldn't give up your dreams but you should always have a plan b as well and  most of time it only works if you got a school graduation.

Thats why i always got a mixed feelings with minors debuting while actually still being in school, the probability that they might drop school is much higher because of the tough schedules, i mean attending is one thing but also learning and writing exams you need time for that especially if you want good grades.

But what about nugu idols?

I think it is their decision (based on the popularity of their group) but I also think they need to keep that same energy when they are 30 with no skills, and no job after their group fades out. I have very little sympathy for the sheltered idol sob story we hear every year.

This is not guaranteed. This is not guaranteed at all! There have been Idols from quite popular Groups who are nowhere to be found after their Group disbanded. Also what if something happened that makes it impossible to continue singing or acting like health issues, family or even a scandal. I mean there can be a time where you just wanna quit Idol life.

I think Idols that finished school and even started studying made the right decision.

It should be obligatory to finish HS at least , 90% of idol groups won't be making in big enough, so they should at least have a safety net to go back to in case it doesn't work out . Even for groups that are considered mid-tier, none is sure , that first : they will stay and not be kicked out of the group , and this happens a lot , or if the group will suddenly go on hiatus or be disbanded.

Also education is important no matter who you are .

It’s a risky choice to drop out of school, one that kids of their age (15-20) make without fully understanding the consequences of, I think. Regular folk without advanced schooling have to grind three times as much to keep up unless they’re crazy talented or already rich; it must be that much harder for idols with humble roots, since idol-hood is still a short lived career and there’s no full guarantee you’ll be successful with how much competition there is or how the volatile opinion of the public/fandom will end up making or ending it.

I’m a firm believer that an university degree is not a real necessity to be successful, and that we need to reform the whole system to one of learning instead of just memorizing, and I would love if the idea a lot of people still have that you need a paper to be able to get a reputable job died away sooner than later, but I also believe everyone should have a basic education of at least high-school level. It would be cool if they could take like online courses so they don’t have to exhaust themselves by actually going to school to take the classes, even if it took a year or two longer to graduate.

I hope they don't completely neglect for studying because I believe that being an idol doesn't always last until the end for everyone and they should at least have something to fall back in to when it all comes down to it. Maybe do some online courses or hire private tutors?

It is a risk, but they can keep studying if they need to in the worst case scenario after their idol life is over, I'm pretty sure they'll have enough money to live while they're studying, but yeah it can be risky

Considering how there's been articles about idol groups making a measly 10k for their whole career of like 5 years, I wouldn't think so. We're obviously not talking about the big companies here, but those make less than half of the total of the kpop groups atm.

I'm also excluding nugu actors/actresses or singers in the indie scene.

It's a terrible idea esp if their family is not super rich or their company is not in the big3; but even then I think that education up to high school is essential and so is having time to be a kid/teen and hang out with your friends, have hobbies, spend time with your family w/o much worries... It's pretty irresponsible from their parents to let them, ofc the company just wants money and doesnt care much about their artists but the parents should not allow this, even if their kid begs them.

Now if they can somehow study with tutors w/o going to school and graduate (idk the laws there, here it's not allowed unless you have a serious illness or disability i think) then that's good but they will still miss their last years of being just kids and it's something you can't get back.

I think it’s irresponsible for the guardians to allow their child this, as well as the companies that don’t enforce them to continue studying... especially since the idol industry is so volatile. Imo the companies should provide some type of home schooling if they’re gonna drop out of regular schooling.
