Life after being a kpop fan/stan?

Lots of people I know that are big kpop fans/stans have move on with their lives. Most of them are relationships or are more into raves/festival stuff now. I’ve been in the kpop scene for 10 years now and tbh I feel myself slowing moving away from the fan life. However, I feel a bit empty. Like this big part of my life is suddenly not as fun as it used to be. I don’t really have a life other than going to work and maybe hanging out with friends once or twice a week. I think it’s time for self discovery now. I still love my favs like bts and would listen to their music and go to their concerts when they come to my city. I’m also excited for BNM boys debut but I don’t see myself being a full time stan. Do you know anyone that has move one from kpop or are you one now? How is their life now? Sorry for my grammar. Typing this really fast and on the phone.

it's always sad when a chapter closes but it's kind of inevitable. kpop as a full-time interest is unmanageable in the long run, and that's fine! but i get the emptiness. singular focus on something you love is something you can only really do when you're really young and it's very comforting. but it's not like you'll stop loving the music but see it as a part of growing up - letting other things take precedent and balance different interests.

I used to be so invested in kpop and stan culture but I no longer am. I just stick to supporting and streaming my faves (but I don’t really do anything stan-related). Being so invested 24/7 drained the energy out of me, it gave me negative vibes so I started enjoying kpop less and I slowly started losing interest. But now I feel so much more happier and positive. I listen to way more music outside of kpop, I’ve become interested in other things (which are far less toxic) and I’ve developed more hobbies. My life has only changed for the better.

I had a friend who I got into kpop, she really got sucked into it. But after awhile she stopped liking it because she began to notice how toxic it was. She’s stopped being a fan completely and tbh she’s doing fine without it. She just sticks to her own hobbies instead.

i totally feel you! i became a fan of kpop when i was 13 and i was really so into it that i did nothing beside checking what are my faves doing and listening to this music non stop because i thought you're not a fan if you listen to other music lol. now i'm 18 and i do check how are my biases, watch performances etc but i'm not a maniac anymore and i don't feel under pressure as i used to

I am not a huge fan of kpop but yes, there will be a time when you will have to move on. I think people easily move on from kpop because it is a trend, and like all things trendy, people get tired of it when the new things come. Kpop has new groups every year from what I see making people switch stans a lot therefore it makes it easier to move on easily. Then the fact that everything is similar. Also it is tiring to Stan actually. I don't stan anyone so I don't suffer from *withdrawals* lol.

EDIT: People that I know who were into kpop are actually glad to move on to other things. One person literally said, and i quote "I am finally free and can breath from all those toxic". I was literally shocked. Then why stan if it was toxic? But she was in it because at that moment she loved it. She still likes it but just that the other interests are far greater than that.

So you can still like it but I can only advise you to not stan. The problems starts from there lol

I don't think of it as ''move on'', in the end, it's just another hobby, some might get into it cause of a trend and some just have a strong bound with it. I also have been introduced to Kpop first around 10 years ago, and I remember for like 4 years I just barely listened to any of it, as I got really busy with my intense school life. If I am bored about it, I do something else. When I feel like being more into it, then I just do. I have bigger hobbies alternatively (like art and gaming, which have been way more important to me all my life). If you feel the need to support it despite having little interests, then you should maybe stop and ask yourself why is it so important to you.

But to answer the question, I met various people over the years who now have moved on. They are just really busy, or found new interests, or I just lost contact with them.

I see Kpop as another music genre, as long as good songs keep being released I'm going to listen. As for the stan culture, when I was younger I used to spend almost my day following my faves activities, nowadays I still following the activities of my favorite group and I support them how I can but not with the same intensity from a few years ago.

In the words of Ariana grande "one thought me love, one taught me patience, one taught me pain" but k-pop taught me all.

Ngl I don't like the music anymore but this is one of the messiest fandoms i've ever been in yet I've met so many great people here, ion think I'm ever going to completely leave.
