Burberry has apologized for a garment that features a noose around the neck that premiered during London Fashion Week on Sunday. In a statement to CBS News, Burberry CEO Marco Gobbetti said he's "deeply sorry for the distress" the design has caused.

Burberry Creative Director Riccardo Tisci also apologized. "While the design was inspired by a nautical theme, I realize that it was insensitive," the designer said in a statement to CBS News.

The statement adds that Burberry has removed the hoodie from the autumn-winter collection, along with all images featuring the look.

The knotted rope disturbed model Liz Kennedy, who spoke out against Burberry on Instagram.

Dammit! I like this brand and they had to do this shit. Ugh, I was gonna buy their Blush parfum, but guess I have to remove it now in my cart.

Edit: Can't believe that this was even given a green light. How stupid are these fashion brands?

I actually like the long beige/tanned hoodie, but not with that noose hanging around the neck. This was released during Black History Month too.

I associated the noose with suicides first before I  thought of black history though, both are bad, but I didn't equate this with black history until people started associating it with it.

This one I think is unintentional. They just weren't able to put two and two together. This is why it's important to have a diverse group of people in every team, so there's always someone who would notice these things.

What do nooses have to do with diversity?

Lemme spell it out loud for you guys:

STOP BUYING THEIR SHIT! THEY DONT CARE! THEY DONT WANT YOU WEARING IT!

U mean they didn't see the gucci backlash and that gucci didn't see the H&M backlash?

THEY DONT WANT YOU WEARING THEIR SHIT THEY KNOW WHAT THEY'RE DOING

or are we gonna forget tommy hilfiger out right saying "If I knew black people could afford my stuff I wouldn't make them"

I really hate this train of thought. People are like "The industry needs to be diverse!", but nobody is saying that POC need to enter more fashion design and business schools so that that can happen. Instead it's just this call for diversity. And also, these are European brands. Europe isn't exactly the most diverse place.

Ohh please, nobody is going to start boycotting anything. First of all, are they even the demographic? Can they even afford it?

You would be VERY surprised the amount of black people and to broaden it POC who do purchase these brands so miss me with it thanks. Also I know they're not going to boycott they're gonna do what they usually do...grumble pretend to be boycotting and then in a couple months back to wearing these brands hence why these brands dont give a shit and will continue to do offensive trolling shit towards POC's.

Just because you buy something, it doesn't mean you're the demographic. Most black people don't wear these brands because they can't afford them. As far as POC goes, yes, there is a heavy push for Asians. I've seen it in New York, Germany, Italy, and Switzerland this past Chinese New Year. Why? Because they actually have the money.
