In a statement to CBS News, Burberry CEO Marco Gobbetti said he's "deeply sorry for the distress" the design has caused. Burberry Creative Director Riccardo Tisci also apologized. "While the design was inspired by a nautical theme, I realize that it was insensitive," the designer said in a statement to CBS News. The statement adds that Burberry has removed the hoodie from the autumn-winter collection, along with all images featuring the look. The knotted rope disturbed model Liz Kennedy, who spoke out against Burberry on Instagram. Dammit! I like this brand and they had to do this shit. Ugh, I was gonna buy their Blush parfum, but guess I have to remove it now in my cart. Edit: Can't believe that this was even given a green light. How stupid are these fashion brands? I associated the noose with suicides first before I thought of black history though, both are bad, but I didn't equate this with black history until people started associating it with it. People are like "The industry needs to be diverse!", but nobody is saying that POC need to enter more fashion design and business schools so that that can happen.
