Is OH getting boring?

A little background: Since last year, I've been lurking on older topics and I found them so entertaining that my desire to participate and contribute to them reached a boiling point two weeks ago, when I finally registered. But I hate to say that I'm forgetting why I'm here. I'm noticing that any topic that might possibly incite disagreement (even if it hasn't yet) gets locked quickly; or a post with an unpopular opinion, even with politically correct wording, gets dog-piled on with negs and insults. I'm not sure if I can blame over-moderation because openly inflammatory comments seem to slide (even upvoted) when the users that post them are aligned with popular sentiment. Do you like the direction OH is headed to? If so, or if not, explain away!

its always been this way, the only difference is that there used to be better trolls and less strict mods

Well I'm not a messy user so I like it the way it is.

 

I understand why mods lock them before the thread implodes.

I mean there are pretty entertaining threads on OH.

Also OH has musketeers club. Which is anything but boring lol

The most iconic threads I ever followed in older/former forums I had accounts had good trolls and a fair share of joking, I don't even know where the line should be drawn so it doesn't get TOXIC but, overall, nowadays you can't even speak your mind even though you mean no harm at all

Idk if it's because I'm getting busier this year or something else but yeah OH is boring now

I've been on this forum for 5 years and I don't feel like there's much of a difference except maybe less activity. Then again, I'm not always super active

There's significantly less activity which is what makes it boring I guess. I remember there used to be so many new threads it was hard to keep up. Now, you can go into the next day and it's more or less the same threads with a few new ones.

upvote/downvote systems in forums often do more bad than good tho cause a lot of people will hold back on opinions out of fear of being downvoted.
