in idol category ... who the hell is CHEЯRSEE ?, oh wait, a JPOP band managed by a KOREAN agency ...I think we already know then why they won in the voting ... because it's impossible for an unknown band to beat like that with the best selling male idol single of the year

Why do you dislike the site and the people behind it?

AramaJapan is HELLA biased and everyone not in their book of approval gets bashed to hell and back. They rarely post about anyone they don't like but if they do, it's sure to be negative. Also the staff has NPD and think that their opinions and personal faves somehow make them superior and it's gross and off putting.

Honestly, Arama has become the Jpop version of Allkpop which is the lowest complaint a person can give. And while I'm going off, the Cancelled and Flop section in their yearly awards is just distasteful. Like we all know the flop section was made solely to drag LDH (their biggest enemy) and KPOP was supposedly "banned" but I guess it's okay as long as it's negative results.

The Arama staff posts whatever they find interesting. If they don't find it interesting, they don't write about. Why waste your spare time writing about something you don't care about? People complain that LDH acts or 46 / 48 acts or ONE OK ROCK isn't written about, but when asked to step up to the plate to write about their fave, they refuse. Ether they flat out say they don't want to do it, or they join the team and then go MIA after a month. So it's futile to complain. You have to be willing to put in the work if you're going to complain. I thought that the international JPop fandom was a mess a few years ago, so I did something about it. Now I'm the main writer for Arama and have recruited people like Ryusenkai and deadgrandma to contribute as well. The reason Arama is the way that is is because the people who are actually willing to put in the work like a kind of music and the ones who just want to complain without offering any help like another kind. It's really that simple.

The Flop and Cancelled awards came about because the readers wanted some fun categories. In fact, the whole Miscellaneous section is due to readers wanting fun categories. And the Flop award has been given to AKB48 twice, Kawatani Enon, and now E-girls; so how is this an anti-LDH award? The readers just think LDH are crap and they literally are flopping now. It should be remembered that a lot of the readers are Johnny's fans (hence Arashi sweeping the first 3 ceremonies), so why would they be pro-LDH, which is considered to be the company that broke Johnny's domination of the male idol industry? And the vast majority of readers don't like KPop, so they were never really nominated for anything besides something negative, because the readers also decide the nominees in the first round of voting.

You really wanna go there? People with NPD often accuse others of being narcissistic. So you can drop that shit right now, it's gross.

That's probably the case on the previous years but seeing how Kinpuri didn't even win in the idol category just means that a lot of people who participated on this survey this year aren't Johnnys fans.

I also like how you blame a particular fandom when you and the other staff of arama are the ones who always talk negatively about ldh and idols in general. I mean even here it's you who has something to say about them.

on the topic, Cancel of the year should be given to Yamaguchi Tatsuya. He's the only one who deserves that.

King & Prince not winning doesn't mean anything. There are more Hey! Say! JUMP and Yamashita Tomohisa fans on the site than King & Prince fans.

This was released a while ago: https://aramajapan.com/news/music/one-ok-rock-does-not-rock/69631/

Yet ONE OK ROCK consistently wins, so...

Why do you dislike the site and the people behind it?

I don't know enough to go into detail, so I'm not gonna act like I know everything. It's just that I used to use it before but the atmosphere felt bad and people were always arguing and being a mess like how people on some forums act (that I don't like to use) . I'm probably just being picky, so I'm not speaking for the website itself, just about how I feel about using it.

I'm not the biggest fan of them but they clearly do not play in the same field than Allkpop. At the end of the day, Arama Japan is run on a voluntarily basis, they have every right to decide whether they write or not about an artist. If you're more into idols, then you should check other websites or create your own to praise them with an homogeneous community (in opposition to Arama which reunites a larger spectrum of the international community since we don't have many places to discuss our interest in Japanese music).

And I say this as an idol fan, it's their right to have a particular editorial policy and tendencies. They also write about mainstream idols (LDH, 48/46...) and their new releases without hating (except Itano Tomomi - who I like - but I love it when they shade her laugh.png ).

Probably not the best choice to engage in conversation on why someone doesn't like something when you're directly involved.

Agreed. Haven't been on that site in a LONG time ever since people started to tear into one another. Worse yet when the international Jpop fandom itself has such a small online presence.

I love getting feedback and explaining why things are the way they are. I encourge people to follow my lead and actually contribute to create the change they want to see instead of just complaining, but VERY few want to do anything, maintaining the status quo.

People online in general are messy.
