They're basically all going solo...ㅌㅋㅋㅋㅋ??

Ha Sungwoon, Kang Daniel, even Park Jihoon...

I thought they were going to promote as a group but this is quite unexpected ã…‹ã…‹

ㅇㅇ Since the company are thinking for themselves, of course they will all release them solo.

Their companies barely have any cash, so they want the minimum investment

ㅇㅇ There might be the Chungha influence, but more than that, it's because the other groups all got scorched to the ground ㅋㅋㅋㅋ

Look at all the groups who came out after Produce, couldn't you see how they were all being called "failures"?

And you could see how Chungha wasn't even ranked 1,2 or 3 and still came out as a solo and is doing the best of all of them?

Of course the answer is to go solo ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹

ㅇㅇ - ? I don't think it's because of Chunghaã…‹ã…‹ã…‹

ㅇㅇ It's not because of Chungha, it's because of their individual fandom, they have to go solo at this rate. There's no reason for the companies to not experiment by pushing them solo first

ㅇㅇ To be honest, they should push Park Jihoon as an actor since the beginning, instead of him as a singer, I don't think his skills are there yet... Unless you're good at singing like Sunmi

I don't think their companies even have that many trainees to begin with. Afaik all the other MMO and Maroo trainees left and no idea about C9 but seeing how they forgot about Good Day, they're not good at managing idol groups' either. The only ones that can have a future in a group are Woojin/Daehwi with BNM group, Guanlin with Cube's new group and obviously Minhyun in NU'EST. Even Sungwoon should stay solo because Hotshot is not going anywhere tbh.

i feel like chungha worked out as solo bc she had enough starpower and was an excellent dancer/singer

i feel like only a few people in ioi/wanna one can survive going solo

Yes, Sejeong has a successful solo with Flower Road. lovestruck.png At the moment, only 3 members would have that power as soloist, Chungha, Somi and Sejeong.

I don't think it's as much because Chungha succeeded, more because all of I.O.I sibling groups are all underperforming compared to I.O.I's success and what was expected out of them? Chungha's success in itself is very extraordinary, given how tough it is to succeed as a solo artist, way tougher than as a group. I honestly don't think that the right conditions that allowed her success to happen as a solo artist, can be that easily replicated.

Hyori did that way before hyuna.

And there's probably another female idol who released sexy solos before Hyori too.

you are right hyori did but not many idols did solo before that time

really unsure of what to expect out of some of the members going solo.. i honestly don't know many male soloists besides rappers and guys from boy groups that are already well-established. it'll certainly be interesting to see if they can hold up on their own and achieve massive success/become iconic

Jihoon tho... if he debut as soloist, he probably wont last long. He's just not strong skill-wise and presence-wise. He's just meh-average imo. He should pursue acting first. I mean you could say the same for Daniel skill-wise but I think he will survive and do well due to his massive fandom and popularity among gp even though he's not known for being really talented but he's decent enough to hold his own.

I don't see anyone from Wanna One with the level of talent, star power and charisma that Chungha possessed. But the one will probably do well is Daniel mostly because he has an edge of fanbase and gp support.

However, the male dance soloists scene just doesn't seem to be successful nor does it attract the gp atm. The trend/interest just died and doesn't exist anymore. The last successful male dance/performer soloists were Rain and Se7en but their hey days were in the past. Its no longer trendy. Rain is still a huge name today but even he struggles to chart well these days. Taemin's Move had impact, tho I believe it's because the song and dance move went viral with what they call the "Move disease", but Taemin himself is still trying to carve a name for himself and his art despite being talented and charismatic and his song only charts decently around top20-top60 position, but not amazing like Chungha, Sunmi and Hwasa who chart in the top 5.
