Article: Woody 'pops up out of nowhere' and wins #1 on the chart and music shows... Justified suspicions

Source: Ilgan Sports via Nate

On the 11th, Woody's song 'Fire Up' was #1 on Melon, Bugs, Olleh, Genie, and Sori Bada charts. On the 10th, he won #1 on Inkigayo with the score of 5790. His scores for album sales and on-air were 0 but his digital sales were over 5500.

1. [+1028, -20] Where do these nugus like Jang Deok Cheol, Nilo, Shaun and Woody come from and take #1 on online charts? It's not like they have amazing songs, they're famous, nor they have a fandom like BTS/WannaOne/EXO. How does this make sense that an artist who swept the music charts only sold 20 tickets for a concert with 2000 seats and had to cancel the concert?

2. [+578, -9] I know Udyr but who is this Woody nugu?

3. [+565, -8] The machines made him #1, congratulations.

4. [+57, -1] Melon needs to be investigated entirely. They have so many manipulations that people don't trust them at all. Melon Awards? What a joke, I don't trust that award show, either.

5. [+48, -1] I saw a song I've never heard of at #2 so I thought I was looking at Indie Chart. Turns out that it's another manipulation... At this rate, it's a serious problem. It's not just a couple of artists per year, how many are we getting?

6. [+48, -6] I listened to his song and it's not something that'd win #1. Ugh... I guess he wanted to get his name out there like Jang Deok Cheol, Nilo, and Shaun. At first, I thought it was Woodie Gochild. Sorry but this totally seems like a manipulation, doesn't make any sense.

7. [+42, -2] In Loco's recent lyrics, he says, "My friend also got an offer, that's what they call a manipulation".

8. [+33, -1] I know Woody from Toy Story, the cowboy doll.

9. [+31, -5] What idiots say: "The song is good so why is this a problem?" ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ How do they live with this stupid logic? So if someone gets hired in a shady way, it's fine as long as they do their work?

10. [+28, -4] People do find it suspicious when manipulated artists win #1. Look at Paul Kim for example. He wasn't famous but when he was #1, people didn't find it suspicious unlike those manipulated artists.

Stop it. This is why kpop fan get a bad rep.

For example, Our beloved Shaun Oppa was recently cleared by the upper korean music authorities of any wrong doings.

It happens.

Please understand Korean don't think kpop music that highly. Talented soloist who is a non idols exists

Re-post from another thread of mines.

Is this true?

Even if it is, what kind of an argument is this? Buying concert tickets is a lot harder than streaming songs, plus you have to take in consideration whether you're able to attend or not. Plus there are casual fans who may like a certain songs but may not want to attend a concert just for that one specific song.

So they complain that their music industry and charts are taken over by kpop groups and their fandoms, but when actual solo artists get on the charts, they riot? All because they're new? When I go to the US billboard chart or iTunes charts to look at new music/artists, a lot of them are people who I've never heard of, but you don't see us discrediting them.

Don't put Shaun with them, Shaun's songs are bops

A song can both be good and also sajegi. I dont know why so many people say "but it's a good song though ". There are many "good songs" that don't chart well. There are plenty of shit songs that do chart well. Song quality doesn't correlate to popularity
