I'm not understanding why there's a limit on who can celebrate time passed by as counted by the moon? idontthinksobetchplz.png

I am an Asian American who's family has always celebrated LNY, it's the only new year that matters in this household. My parents don't even stay up till 12 on Dec 31st, they just go to sleep rofl.

This is my problem with this whole cultural appropriation thing. Are there formal official representatives for these different cultures where people can send their requests to and get them approved? These woke folks on social media always act like they're the protectors of their culture, but that's just their personal opinion. Others of the same culture are totally fine with people "appropriating" their culture since they think its actually appreciation. So, who has the say in this situation?

My other problem is that it's almost always Americans or Westerners who are so far removed from their ethnic cultures, have never been to their ancestral countries, do not speak their parents or grandparents' native language, and usually look down on new immigrants from their ethnic countries, who are always bitching on social media. Meanwhile, the actual people who live and breathe these cultures usually have no issues with the rest of the world embracing their culture.

I even see people complaining that the use of Ancient Egyptian culture is cultural appropriation when it is literally an ancient civilization. ANCIENT. Like, that's most definitely not a culture you can claim, so sit your ass down.

there are also problems of people using other cultures for profit and out of respect. Issues like in Hollywood erasing minorities and ethic roles in favor for white people etc and thus minorities were left fighting for scraps while those said people don't have problem with it bc they see it as exposure and privilege and nothing else. I think people should also understand the different angles and the effect it'll cause here but this situation is definitely  not one of those. This is just another "woke" Buzzfeed nonsense for the sake of brownie points and stirring up the pot.
