The only kind of diet that really worked for me is calculating my daily calorie intake (by an online calculator that tells me how much I should eat to maintain my weight and how much to lose fat) and coming up with a eating plan of my favorite (healthy mostly and some unhealthy now and then) foods that add up to my calories for fat loss each day. I dont really plan my meals beforehand, I just buy the things I like to eat and cook whatever I'm feeling like eating but make sure my max calories are 1xxx. If one day I eat xxx cals more then I eat xxx cals less next day.

I usually combine it with intermittent fasting ( I eat 8 or 10 hours a day and fast the rest) but you shouldn't try that if you have any health problems w/o consulting a doctor or if you easily feel tired or get dizzy if not eating for some hours.

If I know one thing after years of dieting it's to forget random diet plans and either see a dietician or come up with one that works for you.

Uh, if you're otherwise healthy - the 8 small meal diet. From morning onward, every two hours, something little, but calorie decreasing subsequently - like 6 morning a bit of oats (2 spoons dry) boiled with milk (+raisins or something sweet so the craving for sugar doesn't arise during the day), [exercise like running], coffee black with one plain biscuit, mix nuts 1 spoon, 1 chicken breast/egg boiled/piece of fish with green salad, half-cup pulses and rice, honey-lemon green tea, bread 2 slices or 1 roti (whole-grain or mixed brown) with veggies, [exercise like tai chi], 1 high fibre fruit and water. After last meal wait at least 2 hours before sleep. Check you're not feeling weak or famished, if okay then continue for a week and see if it works.

You can eat pasta or pizza but without sauce or cheese or very little of it.

Eating in moderation and tracking my calories is really the best thing that I've done to lose weight. That, and of course, working out.

I always excel the most when I track my calories. If I'm honest, I don't really make any changes to my diet other than that. I eat what I usually do but always keeping my calories in check.
