They're known for being pretty stuck up and don't usually acknowledge artists or music they consider "below" them. Hell, even forgetting the fact that Bts aren't white or American, the fact that the Grammys are acknowledging a boy group is bonkers (any artist with a predominantly female, young audience usually isn't taken seriously). I'm sure other Asian musicians have attended, but I'm betting Bts will still be one of the first to get to be onstage, even if it is just to present an award. It is a HUGE deal. Grammy's has always been focused on 'western' genre music anyway. Which don't consist of a lot (or any) Asians. The closest I've seen over my years is Linken Park.
