Is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy helpful?

I've been going to therapy for 4 months now but I haven't found any progress in coping with my anxiety disorder.

I told my therapist this today and she said that CBT would be a more suitable approach in dealing with my problem... but I have so much going on in my life that I can't really afford to waste my time on something that isn't helpful.

For anyone that has gone through Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, can you please tell me if it was a helpful experience for you and what sort of activities they'd potentially use for me?

It has worked for my friends who have done it. My therapist recommended I do it too but I also haven't taken the time to do it. I do think there's value in it though; it's all about changing the way you think about things and approach it in a more positive manner vs. a negative one.
