come one come all!

i noticed that there was not real thread for this to go with the official diet thread which i think is a shame since apart from eating healthy we all need a bit of support to stay fit.

so this could be where we share our routines, inspire and motivate each other ?

Nice. I recently started a work out plan for the first time!

cool!! i always dread that part bc as soon as i set a goal i need to pursue it, but as long as i don't and work out sporadically i can continue holding off any real commitment.

i'm re-strategising for spring and summer as of next week, less yoga and more high impact, like kickboxing. :)

My problem was I wouldn't work out sporadically so I had no choice but to set up a planrlytearpls.png  Surprisingly its been going well so far I hope I can continue like this

and kickboxing sounds really fun! I'm doing cardio + yoga

my job pays for my gym membership so they force me to go in a way laugh.png not that i'm complaining tho it's as great of a motivator as any. i haven't done this in a while but my fav thing used to be yoga first thing in the morning, before work lovestruck.png what's your preferred style? ashtanga is mine

I told myself that 2019 is the year I need to start working on my fitness, so I just began doing yoga to ease myself into it. My friend recommended Yoga With Adriene on Youtube so I'm currently following this playlist (

) and so far I'm really enjoying it!

this looks AWESOME!

Please help me shape up my wobbly ass. My partner is happy I'm comfy, but I mean, I wouldn't mind losing weight still. I have quite some to lose, I'll still be comfy anyway imstupid.png

oh my i sympathise, tho my ass is boney sadly so there's no upside. squats. but the key to squats which so many underestimate is that it's about core strength just as much or more than inner upper thigh, bc you need stability to keep in position and not put too much emphasis on your back etc. how's your core? maybe couple squats with these types of exercises:

H7fh.gif

to exercise your core, then squats, then LUNGES

I HATE THESE SO MUCH but they do wonders!

I'm starting a new workout plan next week ahmagahplz.png . Otherwise i have just been attending gym classes , They are really effective

i agree, classes are the best motivator. there's the social pull factor, plus it's fun!

I usually work out 6 days a week.

I train my upper body on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Lower body are trained on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday.

Sunday are my rest day.

Currently, I am aiming to run a full marathon at the end of this year.

oof you're my goals... i used to be you, then i moved and slacked off bc i was out of my comfort zone warstarplz.png

also, marathon? in your latitudes? hat off to you sir, hat OFF! rlytearpls.png

I don't have a tremendous amount of time or the ability to leave the house as I watch my grandma fulltime. I actually have been using a system based on Canadian Air Force exercises. I found a paperback edition from the early 60's in my grandparents library. Since I have found that both the male(5bx) and female(xbx) versions can be downloaded as pdfs as well as charts for different levels and abilities available online free. They are simple but effective exercises and take only a short time each day.

i used to work with a guy who'd do push ups in the copy room laugh.png one makes do with what one has available and one has to be creative

currently bulking, I want to gain 3/4 kgs by March

I've been eating like a pig and recently started going gym again so hopefully I should reach my goal

ahmagahplz.png

question, do you bulk on protein, protein + carbs or carbs only? i've heard different theories on that. i'm trying to bulk on protein alone since i'm keto, but it's not working so well, the high fat intake is burning whatever little fat i have... meaning i'm having a hard time building muscle now. unsure.png tho idk what gender you are and it's different for men and women, still thought i'd ask laugh.png

OMG this is the best place for a lazy ass like me! Yoga is my most preferred fitness regime but I also like following up those HIT videos online. Since I got married 6 months ago, I have just been lazying around. Doing yoga daily is my new year goal. This thread will encourage me to keep going...thanks for making this!! lovestruck.png

I also follow Adriene along with bunch of other Yoga videos!!

Woah!! You are an inspiration! ahmagahplz.png

This is good post! I hateee lunges though!idontthinksobetchplz.png

Well marathons here are held really early in the morning or at night so it is atill bearable

have you heard about the borneo international marathon? laugh.png seems just nuts, same steaming heat but PLUS the mountainous environment... but running in your country actually sounds really kinda cool rlytearpls.png i think i'd try that.

omg that actually seems so ideal! I used to go to my uni's gym which was free for all students but then I graduated lol so now I'm back to paying every month

I actually started yoga just a few weeks ago so I'm still a newbie! everything I've been doing so far is hatha and its been helping with my back pain

hatha is so nice i agree. lovestruck.png yoga in general is so good for you, inside and out. helped me through difficult times of my life, esp with eating disorders and depression.

im currently only running for 20-40min a day for my class (need to do a 5k in under 15 by march) but i need to start diversifying bc i also want to take this as the initiative to finally lose weight

going to try and post here often ahmagahplz.png

YES DO! this is so inspirational, i hate cardio esp running, always have. unsure.png but i want to start again bc once you get into it there's nothing like it. and like you i need to diversify

i used to go to gym classes, a mix of high-rep low weight lifting and pilates a few times a week. but i switched jobs and my gym is out of the way and the classes no longer fit my schedule :c luckily i have a gym in my apartment building so I can still lift and do cardio, but I'm wondering if anyone recommends a good app or program or something i can follow? without the instructors and the classes it's hard for me to know what i should be doing everyday.

not really looking for weightloss, just to stay toned and fit

i heard myfitnesspal is supposed to be the best! smile.png i miss having a gym in the building, so convenient. rlytearpls.png

Remember that you does not need fancy equipments to have a good and effective workout.

Bodyweight exercise like Push Up, Squat, dips, Pull Up..etc are effective.

so true, using your own body as weight is underrated tbh.

cardio day: 60 min brisk walking in the morning, followed by 60 min run in a few hours after work. barbell weights + sit-ups, medicine ball + squats/lunges x 50 each

Did some yoga today, oof I'm proud even though I couldn't complete the lesson, some poses were too hard for me.

Thanks for the user who linked Yoga With Adriene, sounds nice and I intent on sticking to it even though i might fail.

you pulled through tho! remember that yoga is anything but performance centric. after all you're adjusting your body to a whole new way of breathing on top of using muscles you prob never use. it takes time to get into.

Do you guys actually spend money on new workout shoes or just use any athletic pair of shoes in your closet??

i have very slim feet with very high arches so i need to customise all my workout shoes that are used for any kind of high impact exercise like running. apart from that i have two other pairs, one for lighter workout and another for outdoor sports. i usually buy a new pair of shoes like every 5 yrs or so, not very often...

yoga tomorrow - can't wait

Having proper form when doing the workout is also so crucial. It's help to get the best result and also lessen the risk of injury.

If one want to use equipment, dumbbell, Kettlebell, resistance band is what I will get. Can also get a weighted vest if you are up for the challenge.

so true! my mom's constantly badgering me about my core. :| which is why i'm using equipment along with my workout. do you use ropes? now that's an effective way to make me cry!

i used to do burpees, squats + medicine ball, ropes, lunges - x25 rounds after running. it was effective but yea... i cried for like the first 2 weeks

Day 2 of Yoga is done too, it was messy and some stuff I couldn't do, but I'm hanging in there.

I feel like going to the swimming pool more often too, I have a pass on which I have prepaid places, and they're going to waste right now, but also the cold af weather isn't really motivating?

Wait what?

Is your mom a PE teacher or something?

Because my core surely is something my mom would never think to badger me about.

I even have never heard her utter the word in the first place 0u0plz.png

no but she's a fitness nut laugh.png your core strength directly relates to your posture. it's the one thing my mom's always nagging me about. she's in super great shape and has the posture of a ballerina.

Oooh I see, if she's into that stuff makes sense it would rub off on you too. And yeah I know what core strength is, it's just the concept of my mom nagging me about mine that was so weird to me, probably because she doesn't care about fitness at all :'D

But that would have been cool to have a fitness nut mom tbh, might have helped in a lot of things.

yea i think she rubbed off on me but it got the opposite effect for a long time. it wasn't until i realised i was damaging my own health in the name of misplaced lingering feelings of teenage rebellion + moved far away from her that i found my own identity vis a vis working out. now we have it in common and it's actually pretty cool. plus i'm in a better mood when i work out regularly so being able to meet in that joy is really nice. :)

we have a few elderly hunchbacks in the family so my mom's always been concerned about our core - the weaker core the more pressure you put on your back and shoulders. but since i started doing yoga and pilates it hasn't been an issue.

i have yoga tomorrow too! i know what you mean about the cold, but there's always an excuse not to get into it. in the summer it'll be the heat. give yourself credit for starting in the middle of winter, by the time spring comes around you'll have eased into it completely~

Well if you don't getting little sleep, sometime only have 3 minutes or no time to eat, being really disciplined. XD

Glad that this thread got pinned.

Anyway some ways I motivate myself always is that I pinned up my fitness goals on a wall so that I can look at it whenever I feel tired.

so... pretty much like what uni was like for me then. goody hurrplz.png  i used to listen to my father's stories about the military, they were made to sleep standing up! i really admire you for having gone through it. my bf is doing it soon.

i should do the same thing! i write it up neatly in my calendar, that way i can't escape it

Goood decision!

My weakness right now is my core. I need to train smarter when it come to my core

Any tips? I’m struggling there too. My “natural†strength is in my lower body so I tend to put my pressure more in my upper back legs and butt. Next week I’m starting a low impact weight training program with Pilates, core, balance and cross training.

Damn, that position though. Prolly won't be able to do that before a long while rlytearpls.png

Don’t rush it! I can’t stress enough how yoga has NOTHING to do with performance. A lot of people who are competitively minded will misunderstand that (i made that mistake too) and take their body places where it’s not ready to go too soon. I was not prepared for that position which is why I got stuck. Another example was this girl in my class who did the crow (advanced version) pose too early, she couldn’t properly balance her weight and ended up breaking her finger on her first try.
