Career dilemma, please help me

Ok, I am having confusion, on how I will be able to live off by myself.

A little flashback, like any other teenagers, haven't really thought on what they want to become in the future. So I don't really know what to take for a degree.

Then, I chose Information Technology.

Fast forward. I am currently finishing my internship. (It is still 2 months before I hunt for jobs though.) and... I do not know now what should I do (lol). I am interested in programming/coding when I was in earlier stage of college. So I "specialized" on being that. Although I can still be on other specialization but my "greatness" on coding is different from other skills. I am not saying I am that great but I mean that my greatest strength would be programming.

The usual "coding" we do in university is different than what I do in my internship.

TLDR;

Now, I've come across Linkedin, local and foreign recruitment sites AND GUESS WHAT.... I can't find something that suits me. It's either they are looking for an experienced one, or someone who has this many skills. There's always be a lacking skill for me.

Now, even if you are not in my industry, I hope you give me insights and advises on what should I do lol

I know this isn't the best place to publish this kind of content. but hey, this is the only site that isn't blocked by their network lol

When u start your job career you'll rarely do the job you've studied for. its gonna be assistant or junior of someone. (at least thats how its here when you have no job experience)

While working you might realize what type of job you enjoy more or you're better at.

I always apply for jobs even if i dont have a certain skill , i just write in motivational letter that im a fast and good learner.

I mean, you don't lose anything by applying even if you dont really fit the match 100%

I majored in Information Technology. I am more interested in Systems/Network Engineering. Systems Engineer these days tbh. When I got out of college last year I applied looked at the career path that would lead me to that level. The most entry level for IT is mostly Helpdesk/Technical Support/Desktop Support. These jobs help you get into the company and you learn about all the applications, how they work, how important they are to the organization etc. and then when a position opens up you can apply and move up.

However this process is not for everyone. I would say apply to every job that interests no matter how high the qualifications are. Remember to be realistic while applying and remember that setting your expectations TOO high is not the best decision  as a new graduate. Create a website or a github account that shows your prowess and add it to your resume. Sell yourself but remember to be honest.

In my case, I did techsupport while I was in college and applied to Network Operations there but was rejected. So I got the same position in another company and I am currently working on a certification going towards Junior Systems Administrator.

I have been where you are before and I know how stressful it is so goodluck. lovestruck.png

Well since it is your first time seeking for a job you should try as many option as possible lol, even the one that required years of experience and many skills. Some company will still call you even if you have 0 experience. As a fresh grad don't be too picky. The most important is to find a job experiences. If later on you feel unsuitable with your company/work you can move to other company.

I also majored in Information Technology but i am into systems, networks, etc. Most of my friends who are in the same interest as you worked as a freelance programmer through online jobs (they got better pays tbh). Programming jobs are really in demand online. Compile all the systems that you've built and make a portfolio out of it.

I know how that feels tho. Been through that months before I graduated. Keep on fighting, OP! ^^
