1. Wow, it must have been so hard for you. China's environment is so bad, but you still have to come here to make money. d_tanshou-dcf7d5d0d6.pngd_tanshou-dcf7d5d0d6.png [+39731]

2. Then don't come here to earn China's money. d_chigua-90cb948c34.png [+27766]

3. Trash. Who told you to come here then? d_feijie-c1d5b12e04.png Have you earned enough Chinese gold? [+21180]

4. Then go back to your country to drink water. [+17431]

5. I have never liked him...I don't know why he got so popular back then...[+14015]

6. Seriously...are you not aware of how you became popular...why would you say something like this [+6174]

7. How did he become so popular back then? I still don't understand, even now. Do people really like such a greasy man? d_feijie-c1d5b12e04.png [+3289]

8. Get out. [+2758]

9. F*ck you. d_feijie-c1d5b12e04.png [+2085]

Comments:

1. You don't need to apologize. We don't welcome you to come to China. Goodbye! We won't send you off. [+27301]

2. Are you apologizing to the renminbi? [T/N: Chinese currency] [+22001]

3. Why are there people still supporting someone like this? [+20807]

4. The air is not good, but the money smells pretty sweet? [+15797]

5. There are a lot of comments telling the truth. Don't let people talk, OK. No matter what, I am a native of Changsha, born and raised. I hope you never come to Changsha again. I don't care if you go to other cities. Whoever hates on Changsha [T/N: this was the city Hwang Chi-yeul directly spoke about], I will become a hater of that person. Back then, when I was your fan and I spent money on your songs, I guess I was blind. I hope in the future, you can always work in a good environment. Go carefully. I won't send you off. ðŸ‘‹ [+8540]

6. F*ck. Don't forget, if it wasn't for China would you still have a career in Korea? I hope you go bankrupt sooner rather than later. You treated us as fools. You pretended not to understand. Get the f*ck out! [+6549]

7. Don't worry, the people who should remain are still here for you. [+3575]

8. My heart hurts for you. You're overseas, yet you still have to be a victim of cyber-violence here. [+1587]

He's not lying but why would you say it out loud when that's literally the country that has a bulk of your fandom? Without them, he would be nowhere near as successful as he is now. Dumb move!

Seoul's air is pretty bad as well and while China is making progress and started a huge ecological shift, fine dust in Korea keeps getting worse but they keep blaming China for their own pollution

All Asia has contaminated air

Nowadays someone can't even say the truth without getting some sensitive people offended.

That sensitiveness and allergy to the truth just seem incurable. :)

Hwang Chiyeul was literally a nobody in Korea before he went on “I am a singer†in China. All of his success was built on the foundation of Chinese fans, and most of his fans to this day are Chinese.

I just think it was really thoughtless. Even if he was prompted with the question, he could easily have dodged it or said something else.

May be.

But he didn't lie.

The whole world knows how bad is air pollution in China.

China even rented big piecea of land in Russia and Kazakhstan and now is polluting our ecosystems.

All areas with green forests are slowly turning into deserts.

Whatever.

It's unfair if someone talks as if China just sits back doing nothing. Having said that, China is a huge factor for Korea's fine dust problem. Of course, Korea should do their best to reduce domestic pollution. However, it's evident that even if Korea reduced their own pollution to zero, their air will still remain on the bad side.

The research findings have already been shared among researchers on the three countries, forming the basis for conclusions that external influences on South Korea’s fine dust total 30–50 percent on a normal basis and 60–80 percent at times of high concentrations.

http://www.koreatimes.co.kr/www/nation/2018/07/119_252249.html

According to the findings, in 2015 an average 45 percent of fine dust in Korea originated from China, but on days with high concentrations up to 69 percent could have come from Asia's largest economy.

The funny thing is, if K-nets were being like this, you know tons of I-nets would defend the artist and criticize K-nets for being overly sensitive and nationalistic about stating a fact that everyone knows. The demographics of what we call 'I-nets' here may explain this contrast but It's very transparent.

lol okay well forgive the inaccuracies, i dont follow him. but my point was that a lot of his success today was due to support from his chinese fans.

and on whatever show that was, he became popular in korea BECAUSE he became popular in china. as far as i know, the main reason he was invited back onto those korean shows was because korea recognized his popularity and huge success in china.

every country has issues that theyre sensitive about and im not saying that he should be afraid to tell the truth, but hes not a politician. and to criticize a country that supported you so much throughout your career i think came off as ungrateful to cnetz and i understand why they feel offended.

Lol you are misunderstanding something. Once again he did not earn his popularity in Korea because of China. He became a hot topic in Korea after that show period. You wouldn't know because like you said you don't follow him. I followed him closely after appearing on I Can see your voice. The only reason why he ever became popular in China the first place is because of his hype due to the performance. I am not discrediting China but he could have easily made it in Korea without it because he was starting to become a hot topic. China might have boosted his popularity but it isn't the first or sole reason of his popularity there (in Korea).

You should have ended it the moment you said you don't follow him.

how does this change my point though...? his popularity in korea is IRRELEVANT here. youre trying to argue a point that he was already rising in korea when he was popular in china, but what does that have to do with the fact that he has had a lot of success and support in china throughout the duration of his career...? why is korea even being discussed here?

the point is, MANY OF HIS SUPPORTERS, past and present, are chinese. i dont follow him, but i AM chinese, and ive seen and heard of him endorse several chinese products, appear on chinese CFs, hold many personal concerts in china. he made a lot of money off of chinese fans and has a lot of chinese supporters. his weibo has several million followers, which is a lot for a non-kpop korean celebrity. that, i DO know. why are you trying to discredit the role that chinese fans have had in supporting his career?

and from his POV, why, then, would you go back to your home country to talk badly about china, even if it is the truth? like i said, he is not a politician. hes an entertainer... and from a business perspective, its foolish for you to criticize the country that youve made so much money from and has done nothing but support you. its for similar reasons that many high fashion brands are getting a bad reception in china even though they try pandering to a chinese audience.

dont bite the hand that feeds you. thats all im saying.
