The fact is that before TWICE hit big not only in Korea but also in Japan and created a new hallyu wave a long with BTS there, companies weren't debuting Japanese idols as often. And if they were, they were mostly in not well-known groups nor companies and didn't hit big. With TWICE hitting the biggest peak of girl groups in years, would there have been a proper hallyu wave lead by other groups and would the additions of Japanese members be so common now?

It's also interesting to touch on that 2 other female groups have themselves their own Japanese trio like TWICE. It's becoming relevant to see that new groups are debuting with a similar formula to TWICE. Nothing wrong with it at all, just interesting to see the shift in the standards of a girl group and what companies follow now.
