Package deal? Too early to judge whether it risky, she still has selling power, as Rustie posted, she sold two blocks, large decline, but 2 is still something, still a core unwavering base. Lets see their first mag and how much she is init with Nanamin. I just want these mags to show some love to Maimai or 2nd gen, Maimai cos she a big handshake seller and the nicest person EVER. But 2nd gen needs love too! 

 

I see ViVi quite abit in London.....So it be nice it ViVi, but a creative hipstery fashion book is cool. I have to give them credit for their effort of live singing on live broadcast. Finally a concert of Aki P's idol that worth watching, good job

 

Do you just not watch anything else 48G? Because they do live only for all solo parts regardless of where they are and for all theater performances. This is nothing new.

 

Maybe Nogi should do a EXO and use AR on and off where the vocals would be abit iffy...especially when this went on for as long as it did, they should have merged some tracks into medleys...Too demanding and too long for a concert. 

 

But they effort was endearing, they really did give it their all and it was a great concert. The new single choreography is great, can't wait for it to be performed on music shows.

 

The potential new sister group announcement is abit   Why tho? Isit necessary? Sony already doesn't know what to do with the girls not in the senbatsu, what are they gonna do with a new batch of girls?

They should have really stuck to what 48G does typically for the tail end of the 8 hour performance (basically, group songs are all lipsync, and solos are not). People don't have the stamina for 8 hour performances even in athletic events typically, what the hell are they thinking?

 

But yeah Rena really fits in wayyy too well with the Nogi image.

I used to own vid48 so yeah, I watched everything uploaded there, not all solo parts are live actually most of them are not.

 

Nogizaka46 sang live more than 60% of the concert, so this is new for Aki P idol

 

If you watch anything DMM, all solos are done live. 8th gens confirmed this fact on 2ch and stuff, so no, this is really nothing new.

If I remember correctly from checking the weather during the concert, I think it was around 40 F/ 4 C? It looked pretty cold and the audience was all bundled up.

I don't think they'd swap them tho.. Rena looks 95% done with being an idol and is burdened with SKE's constant graduations. Ikoma's too important to the baby Nogi history.

The sad thing about them is that their peak seems to be right now, but the idol boom is in contraction (save for "dance and vocal groups" which are essentially the same thing). So the messages from the market are so mixed...

Urg if only they could step out of that idol zone and be a regular girl group... but with Aki-P and the whole 48G & Nogi sub units thats impossible. 

 

To be honest, it wouldn't do anything. I put vocal and dance units in quotation marks because they're idols in everything but name. The public has been extremely harsh on all idol and idol-like acts, so simply dropping the idol title would do nothing. You'd have to drastically change Nogizaka for them to break out of the decline of the idol boom.

As much as I want them to sell, aiming for 1mil sales this single is impossible. Their last single only reach 500K in their second week and end up overall about 600K+. This single will sell more, but not much more as to reach 1MM.

And why this has to be their main shot? If their sales keep increasing steadily, probably by next year they can reach 1MM.

 

The idol boom is dying, taking basically everyone who even remotely looks like an idol down with it.

I'm quite pleased with the sales so far actually lol. Certainly it does feel like the single could have sold more, so why is this a good first day sales in my view?

 

We must keep in mind that compared to Nandome, Inochi have only 30 maximum blocks per member. Instead of 35 blocks, the top members in Inochi only have 30 blocks. Just for our top 10 HS sellers who usually sale out or almost sale out, that represents 5 blocks less each, 50 blocks less in total, & 25,000 in HS sales not included in time around! That is not to mention for our non-top10 members have decreased blocks too. All in all, Inochi have 189 less (902 to 713) total blocks compared to Nandome, representing potentially 94,500 of HS sales not available for Inochi.

 

What this means is possibly that for Inochi, our non-top10 members have much better sales in HS compared to last single, more than making up for our at least 25,000 in missing top 10 sales (& let's not forget Sayurin's decreased sales too). It also possibly means much better non-HS sales, a higher Soundscan sales! All these are good signs. ^ ^

 

 

Looking at past weekly sales excluding the first day, the highest nogi achieved was 70,715 from KizuKata. If that is replicated by Inochi, that will result in a sale of 492,602. So Inochi needs 7,398 more sale for the week to pass 500k, & this number looks quite achievable methink!

 

With the 2nd day sale of 37,358 added, Inochi will need 40,755 more till 500k, so 10,188.75 per day + adjustment! It's starting to look real tight I must say lol

This really reminds me of AKB48 right around 2009ish, to be frank. Back then there were very few versions, and very few handshake slot events, and they were still selling by the truckload. I think we're going to see the uptick here.

On the idol boom part & how nogi by be constrained by it,

 

I'm not worried about nogi's future, at least not yet lol. nogi's certainly doing rly well right now, but I don't think there's events that suggest this is our 'peak', for all we know nogi can continue to grow.

 

I don't know if the idol boom is rly dying, & whether being an idol is going to be more of a penalty than before, but even if it's true I think nogi have staked its ground rather differently that allows a certain level of immunity, by a strong focus on fashion modeling & toward acting. Aspects of these are our now five-strong roster of official models, the regular appearance for fashion mags even for those that are not official models, a lot of musical appearances, Principals, dorama appearances, & the latest rakugo play. By going fashion, nogi have a much more significant presence of girl fans compared to 48 groups, & by going acting I think nogi is securing a good future & greater general recognition for its members. These are good development for nogi & areas nogi can continues to grow imo.

 

With that in mind, I don't think this is nogi's peak yet. There's still room to grow, & don't forget our strong digital sales! ^O^

That being said, I do agree with you that they are and have taken significant defensive action. Being on Larme and trying to go for modeling gigs as opposed to others are two huge defensive plays (because that increases their female fan appeal) as opposed to trying for guys. Everything else is really typical of ALL48, but it's these two that make Nogi different. However, I don't know if that's going to be enough to immunize them from the decline of idols in mainstream Japanese music.
