yeahh..they always go with Monday but who knows ITZY might break the tradition

Yeah, I'm pretty shooked if it's true because JYP artists always released their new album on Monday. But you might be right, they might want to break the tradition who knows right? and let say if they're aiming for global/western focus it's not weird as few groups already went with friday releases.

But it'll a bit disadvantage for korean charts wise for ITZY since this is their debut I'm pretty sure JYP would want them to do well domestically first. Friday release is always a handicapped to me in term of listeners etc. Not many people will be listening to new songs on the weekend.

Impossible. JYP is not going to risk releasing a debut on a Friday when people don't stream. Remember that JYP groups comebacks on Mondays precisely because of that.

I believe that the teaser schedule and its debut will be:

I 01.28
T 01.29
Z 01.30
D 01.31
I 02.01
F 02.02
No teaser on Sunday 03rd
F 02.04
E 02.05
R 02.06
E 02.07
N 02.08
T 02.09
No teaser on Sunday 10th

Debut: 02.11

why not?

everyone and their mother is releasing on Friday nowadays to try their chances with Billboard.

Since when does JYP care about Billboard charts? imstupid.png JYP cares about the Korean charts (especially for a girl group), it's the only relevant thing about charts in K-Pop. The other agencies that remain obsessed with Billboard charts.

My comment as per below. For a Debut it'll be weird for a Friday release (to me at least) All in all, it all depends on JYP Ent. Hoping for the best for ITZY. I'll check their music out that's for sure.

Prioritizing the global market before the Korean market would be to risk that the group is not what we all expect and in the end JYP again do it wrong both in digital and in physical sales. For JYP the most important thing is the Korean charts, and it's not going to ruin the debut of their new group by wanting to release them more to the western market.

And that's it.

Yeah it would be unwise to prioritize global market when we all know rookie group especially girl groups really need public recognition domestically first and foremost to attract new fans. I'm pretty sure JYP wouldn't want to jeopardize itzy debut by doing a friday release. It would be so unwise on so many level. Even some senior and established groups have had problems with a friday release (korean chart wise) The only good thing for friday release is good charting on billboard main charts.

This probably won't end up being true. JYP hardly ever moves away from a Monday release date for his groups.

In fact, the most likely debut date in my opinion would be 18th February

Just as JYP will always release comebacks on Mondays, JYP always releases teasers for 2 weeks, so the debut would be on February 11.
