oh man... so many regrets

  • i wouldn't try to do EVERYTHING the way i did... i had a billion classes every semester and i didn't have to make myself suffer like that
  • i wouldn't be quite so dependent on my bf, emotionally
  • spend less money
  • actually DO things once in a while, like travel
  • sleep more
  • start organising my class notes like, after the first 2 weeks every semester instead of ONE WEEK BEFORE FINALS LMFAO
  • not pull all those all nighters instead of staying on top of things... sometimes it was necessary to stay on top of everything but oftentimes i could've avoided it by efficient planning

Change major (?), probably.

I studied architecture, but sometimes I think gaphic design would suits me more, idk.. i think I'll never know unless I study/work with it, but for now I'm just working at what i studied.

Also I think I would be more active, do other things, projects besides only studying what I had to. I did nothing (in general), and also i did my internship only on the last year, when some classmates started doing since the 2nd semester, so compared to them I don't have many experiences.

And a third thing would be trying harder to get to study abroad as an exchange student. I really wanted, but I also did nothing about it. Now, after graduating, it's a little more difficult to do it and get scholarship and things like that, since now I have to work and i don't have enough money to pay for a postgraduate course abroad.

I have many regrets, but i think these are the top 3.

Yeah, not studying abroad for at least a semester is a big regret of mine as well. It's a great opportunity to visit other countries and meet people from different cultures.

do you know anyone who double majored, how time-consuming was it compared to just majoring in one thing?

i know quite a few, some of my teammates even did it so they were able to do it while dedicating time to a college sports team

it was a little work but more manageable bc they started the coursework right away and it was something they decided they wanted to do rather early on in college

you can totally do it, it's just all about planning and time management. check in with advisors often, get work done now and relax later, and prioritize properly

preferably, I'd like to redo highschool cuz even tho there was moments i got well grades & could even take honors/ap classes, i still failed a lot of classes, because of depression & just lacking willpower and motivation. even the ap classes I only passes cuz they gave me extra time to pass in work cuz they knew i was depressed (and classmates would let me put my name on projects i didnt do cuz i dont talk)

but strictly college..I'd either

1) the college i wanted to go to accepted me, but I didnt go. this may be tmi but I live in town in south shore region of massachusetts (basically region southern of boston, near the shore) and this college was in boston. i did not want to commute everyday bc..its a lot. also i didnt have money/job. (rooming there was too expensive) also i feel like i'd get lost hhh. anw yeah i could of just...commuted..and got a job at some point. its very depressing to know im at point 0 atm when if i went i'd be finishing prob this spring-ish. and would of had the 2 required internship they have. and be on my way to actual career.

2) when i ended up going community college in the closest city. i flopped first term cuz i got depressed &start skipping classes. it was depression. also exhaustion cuz I had gotten a job by then. Still at this job today. I didnt like that school. i just wish i didnt have to go, ultimately. but it is dumb to do what i did and skip all those classes. even tho i didnt have to pay to go, I had to give them a few hundred dollars i think cuz i basically got kicked out? and wasted resource, some shit like that idk. i said i wanted to take a break and not go straight to college. but just wish i held my ground ig.

on plus side. i do get more or less free 2 year online college with union at my work. i think application open twice a year, and ive been expecting the email abt it or see it on bulliten board at work..but im just waiting for it. i keep getting sad lately bc i feel like i missed it and wont get until summer/fall ._. i just wanna try again for real career

My biggest regret was probably not trying to apply for research grants and summer internships as soon as possible. I wasn't confident enough in my skills to do it, and that was a mistake. My college was always emailing us opportunities and I ignored them all...

I can semi relate, I took a unplanned gap year in between my second and third year in order to get more experience but it's been quite hard to get a job, it would have been easier if I took the opportunities that were offered to me earlier on.

  • 1 month later...

Change my major maybe ... though after years passed, I start to actually rediscover my initial respect and the reason why I picked it in the first time.

Other thing might be to learn other languages way earlier. Had I done that, I might end up being fluent in 4-5 languages now.
