i was wondering where aimyon is, she doesn't have an album yet?

and namie is not on the list because her album was released in 2017

Aimyon's album was also released in 2017.

I was thinking that they'd been around for a while, but turns out it's only a bit longer than Leo Ieiri

Oh yeah you're right! I have no idea LiSA released her first single in 2011. The same thing for Aimer, but Aimer is getting more recognized 2 years after her 1st single. Meanwhile Leo Ieiri started to be popular in 2012!

With strong sales and the hiatus of Kana Nishino, I have a feeling that Aimyon might get to #1 spot of the best-selling female soloists in Japan in 2019 unless one of these happens in 2019:

1. Utada releases another album.

2. There's a compilation album/greatest hits by a well-known artist like Ayu or Kumi (imagine if Ayu suddenly announces retirement).

3. A Lemon-esque or Koi-esque big hit by a female artist other than Aimyon.

4. Aimer's upcoming dual album flops.

The only competition here would only be Aimer.
