I don’t like it when Blackjacks defend Bom’s..ahem…somewhat different appearance, because by saying “OMG Bom didn’t get surgery, how could you say such a thing!?†they’re implying that plastic surgery is somehow wrong. OP goes so far as to say the CEO of YG ‘would confront her about it’ if she got surgery. Because everyone knows a 30 year old should not be allowed to make decisions about their body without first consulting their male boss. They’re robbing an adult woman of agency, when the reality of it is that when a person gets plastic surgery, that is a private decision between them and their doctor. No one should pass judgment on it, either in a positive or negative manner. It does not matter if the way they look pleases you or not. Their job is not to appeal to every individual fan, and you do not own them or have a right to dictate their private life. Being angry at or denigrating a celebrity for not living up to your standards in these instances is absurd. So is attempting to explain away something that was their decision as if they are a child. Now, I wish plastic surgery wasn't as prevalent in South Korea as it is. I wish people would be more accepting of different kinds of facial features and body types. I am proud that my bias, CL, stood up for herself against YG when she refused to get plastic surgery, and even poked fun at her detractors via an April Fools' Day prank. But I am also proud of my bias Miryo for making a conscious decision to get surgery, publicly stating that that is what she did, and participating in a skit that satirized the double standards of those who denigrate women for their choice to get surgery while simultaneously demanding that they conform to a narrow beauty standard. And then when she got plastic surgery she was bashed for being plastic. My issue with Bom is that she seems to be addicted. This may stem from insecurity with her looks, inability to deal with criticism about her appearance, or another issue idk but the procedures are out of control and she needs to stop. The fact people really decide to devote any of their time shitting/hating on anything just makes me laugh because if they really couldn't care less, then they'd end up ignoring it or finding better things to do. Why is it up to your judgement whether she should get surgery or not? It is neither your body- so you cannot consent or not consent to medical procedures done on it- nor are you a doctor. She's only 30 but she already has the beginnings of mask face. If she doesn't stop, this is her future: I don't bash her but I do worry for her. I see that is only a controversial right when a female celebrity makes a decision to get plastic surgery...or a woman decides to get sexual healthcare. Suddenly, the public think they own her.
