1. In fact, I have always been very curious...where can you even see the new rules from NRTA? I looked through the documents of the NRTA and could not find it, nor could I find it in the documents of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Radio and Television. [+39892]

2. NRTA new regulation: Female artists appearing on shows cannot have short hair. [+36611]

3. What's their problem? This is sexism~~~ [+31368]

4. Besides nitpicking, can the NRTA actually do something useful? You've been bumbling along in the entertainment circle for 10+ years, the only thing I am insisting on is to give the cold shoulder to NRTA. [+25797]

5. I support this. I've always felt it was weird for guys to wear earrings. Don't hate me [+15988]

6. It would be funny if one day a rule was released that when girls appear on shows, they must wear a big jacket and not reveal any skin. [+13447]

7. Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha this frightened me, next thing you know, they'll say the female artist's skirt must go over the knees. [+12798]

8. What kind of mentality does NRTA have? [+4271]

9. ...I don't even know what to say anymore. You have authority, you're so f*cking awesome. First, you banned a lot of TV content. Then, you said that those appearing on reality shows must be good people. Next, it was the talent shows. Now, you care about the shape of the earring stud. Every time, there is great support. Well, I feel powerless. There will be some day in the future when they ban what you like. [+3203]

I can't believe they censored the earrings in those pics. Also, does anyone know what caused this new rule to come about?

This is all related to the recent push back against 'effeminate' male idols. This has been bubbling under the surface for a while, you can read these articles for more information if you are interested

I can't get over how many things the government censors out. They can't make novel adaptations nicely anymore because the meat of the story is always missing. My friend told me a few days ago that colored hairs are no no and now I see they are censoring earrings too..wtf

Smfh. I’m Chinese but this is a perfect example of how China has a LONG way to go in terms of sociocultural issues.

If your masculinity is dependent on another man on television wearing EARRINGS, then I don’t think he’s the problem.
