1-Sometimes we cant stand some people but we're too afraid of the beef it could create if we face them and tell them. So we either continue to smile at them or try to avoid them as much as possible.

2- when your friends get sensitive when you have a different opinion on a certain subject so to avoid debating you just agree with them.

Is this being a hypocrite or just civilised or its laziness?

I think those cases are more like a pacifist way of thinking and act. I do that too, and I don't consider that as being a hypocrite. If you do those two things, I think you just want to avoid conflict.

Being a hypocrite for me is like bad-mouthing someone behind their back and then acting so sweet and nice in front of the same person.

Being lazy is like... not even making an effort to explain what a laziness is. laugh.png

1 - I think it's best not to burn bridges. People can always change and improve. Plus sometimes you get the wrong idea about people. Heck there are people that really annoyed me but I came to realize that they are actually quite good people at heart.

2 - I feel like debating is sort of pointless if the other party isn't receptive or open to change. It's as productive as yelling at a wall. If you do tend to tire them out and they agree with you. Most likely they just said it just to make you shut up. You'll end up feeling worn out and annoyed about their viewpoint that you had no power in changing in the first place.

Yeah it might not be what you truly mean by not saying how you truly feel. But it's actually a smart thing to do so that everyone can live together peacefully.

If it truly bothers you and you say nothing, its laziness; if it doesn't affect you that deeply then its being civilized. Tbh, most of time criticizing people isn't worth it. There's countless ways to deal with it better: ignoring the person, suggesting better attitude, addressing it in a clear, impersonal way.
