Could Suzuki Airi be the next Nishino Kana with the right song?

Someone said this sounds really outdated but not in a good way.

And that this sounds like a copy of an Amuro Namie song.

I mean she's talented and pretty but she hasn't been successful. Her songs aren't that good.

Though tbh I think her voice isn't unique enough.

Maybe Kana just has the x-factor.

basically better management. to me she's pretty but had such a generic style, not distinguishable compared to other singer mentioned above. they had their own distinct characteristic that made people turn to remember. her song is good to me. its just an image making that need to be perfected.

1. She's not similar to Nishino Kana at all. We're talking about different target market here.

2. If anything, she's more Namie Amuro style minus the edginess and the gyaru/tanned look (You know, the whole dance and pop music).

3. If you wonder whether she's gonna be the next or as big as Namie Amuro, Kana Nishino, etc.? Not gonna happen imho as long as she stays under Up-Front. She would need a big label backing and promotional budget - Sony, Universal, Avex. Maybe when her contract with Up-Front ends, she might transfer to a bigger label? Hopefully.

4. To me, her music is good although I can't disagree at the outdated comment. But I agree her concept, music and image are pretty generic so far. She released a variety of genres - dance, pop, r&b, ballad but she just doesn't have a signature sound or voice. However, I think she's off to a good start. She just debuted last year, so give her some time to explore and experiment. She probably has potential.

5. There are few other new gen female soloists: Sayanee, AAA member I forgot her name and Mariya Nishiuchi ( I know Mariya is not new, she's been a soloist for awhile). I think these girls will be her competition.

6. From H!P/Up-Front (past and current), I was most impressed by Aya Matsuura. She was the "It" and had the talent, starpower, amazing stage presence, great vocals, and strong/interesting personality. All of that at the age of 15. Even though Ayaya was mostly known for her cute idol image, her presence and starpower was so strong. She's the most successful and iconic solo act Up-Front ever had and could've maintained her popularity and reputation well post-idol if she was under a bigger agency and music label. I don't really see a similar energy, potential or presence in Airi but I wished or hope that Airi would develop herself to be more like Ayaya or other seniors. She needs Ayaya or Goto Maki as her mentor. Like adopt a more edgy style, image or something. Hopefully we could see her growth as an artist.

No, she is already more than a decade in the industry and she can't even land on chart; you can say she had the talent but in life that is not enough to be star. Kanna manage to have a break because of skills, plus luck and good management. Also I don't think Airi is writing her own song.

Ugh. I'm trash for Ayaya's solo material and shuffle/temporary unit songs.

I just wish her transition from the cutesy idol image to a true artist could have been smoother... If only she quit H!P and Upfront earlier.

Being pretty and talented isn't enough. Airi needs better management, better promotion, and more of a big and appealing image to get more well-known to the public. But J-Pop industry is incompetent about promoting newcomers.

Just look at Aimyon. She's not that pretty but she's talented and can become much popular thanks to her song Marigold despite the fact I love her older songs better than Marigold. This is because her management is certain that she might become popular by putting her songs via streaming. As a result, Marigold is booming and has become an incredible hit. She landed 13 songs in the Japan Hot 100 during the release of her latest album. Do you think she has appealing image to show it to public? I don't think so. She seems like an ordinary girl, but she's already got more recognition and was invited to perform in Kohaku Uta Gassen which is one of the most-viewed TV program in Japan. This is crazy and unexpected because she's not that well-known in public before Marigold was released.

I'm not sure whether Airi can do what Aimyon did and I don't see her becoming the next Kana. But if she manages to score at least two or three gold-certificated songs, then I'm proud to say she's almost there to be a big star.

Yeah I miss these fun songs:

Maybe if Airi might release these songs, I have a feeling she might become popular. But I'm still very uncertain.
