What do you mean looks don't play a role in Western music industry?? You got to be joking. Sure, it isn't in your face like with Kpop, but the Western music industry is a music industry just like any other. And it definitely does rely on looks, especially if you are a female (men are less likely to be affected by their looks, sad, but true). Otherwise the pop industry wouldn't be so sexualized.

 

Also, I clearly stated that talent also plays a large role (i.e Adele). But it's either you have one (looks like Britney Spears or Selena) or talent (like Adele or Charlie Puth) or both.

 

There are SO many Western stars who have done worst shit than anything petty azaelia has ever said or done, like Nicki Minaj, Tekashi 69, Chris Brown, Justin Beiber in the past - but they still remain higly influential or popular. If anything, I'd say her image is the least of her worries. Western Celebrities don't have to worry about micromanaging their behaviors. Literally look at how long R Kelly thrived despite the open secret that he was a molester? Or the peice of shit that was XXX tentaion (?) Or whoever and how people bended over backwards to defend his ass all because thy like his music?

 

Compared to a lot of Western Celebrities, Azaelia is tame.

 

Her music has just never had the kind of appeal to large audiences. I mean, if even Sound Cloud artists can rise to the top or gain a good amount of Fame, I'd say she just doesn't got what it takes.
