So, I have been listening to WJSN's new album WJ Stay? all day and finally have come to some determination on how I feel about it.lovestruck.png

To those who liked WJ PLEASE I feel you will like WJ Stay as well! The production quality and WUJU sound is all there!

Vocal goals! The composition of the songs feel fresh but familiar, a classic WUJU album!

Here's my brief review of the songs:

1. La La Love - I love this title its such a bop to me. I love the chorus and high notes and just the way Yeonjung and Seola and the other vocalists(Soobin, Dawon, Dayoung, Bona) transition their parts its just such a vocal treat to me... I love it!

2. You Got - I really like the funky/disco vibe of this song, it has quickly grown on me. I love this bass and classic starship/kpop effects. Vocals great of course.

3. Star - I love this song but I would be lying if I didn't think it could have been just a little bit better with more of the vocal adlib harmony at the end, added during the middle. But that's just me I still like it a lot.

4. Memories - I enjoy this song it has that very whimsical and enjoyable progression.

5.Cantabile - I love this song, its a great kpop song to me.rlytearpls.png

6. 12 O'clock - Wow! From the teaser I thought i was going to hate this song. This is a Bop x a million, I love it!!!

7. UJUNG - Ujungs onlydave.png

Stream LA LA LOVE!!!!

Easily their best album for me, finally dethroning The Secret. I like every single song, but La La Love and Cantabile are probably my favorites if I had to pick.

I think I'm there with you! I really liked WJ Please and Happy Moment, but this is better in a lot of ways and a great natural progression for them.iloveyouplz.gif

12 o’clock is probably my favorite from this album aside from the title, although I liked Ujung, Cantabile, and You Got also.

Edit: as of now I personally like WJ Please a bit more than WJ Stay, but knowing my tastes, they’ll change in a month :derp:

Yeah I-yah and You and I are some of my favs, I actually sat there for a minute unable to choose between SMSY and LLLove. It was hard rlytearpls.png

here's some of my points, IMO :

- La La Love is their best title track now..

- but, i can't say WJ Stay is the best album because.. i honestly only feels clicking the La La Love and You Got. WJ Please is still the best album as in overall because i really like all the tracks (the B-sides are just so good)

- La La Love is just.. marvellous. never have like a modern Synth-pop like this. i don't know how Full8loom do it but they understand WJSN's sound that people know and like, then just keep upgrading it. starting from DCT, to SMSY, to La La Love, overall sound production is just keep getting better and balanced.

- You Got is... that track. that 80's RnB/funk feels really got me good. first time hearing the snippet of it from preview i just know it'll be good. that synth and bass sound is just so familiar... so spot on... so wanna make me sing and dance hahaha.

- in terms of vocal performance, i really like miss Soobin's in thiss album. her parts on those tracks are just really good. she may not hit as high as Yeonjung but she put more power in it and it's just refreshing.

i love miss peach Soobin, hehe :)

-La La Love: they keep their "magical" feeling/sound but with a better twist imo; vocals and rap on point; really liked EXY's and Yeonjung's parts tbh; all of them do good harmonies and have good vocals; probably one of my fav title tracks by them.

-You Got: this one sounds like their previous releases more but it's still good; loving the diff disco bits here and there; there's something lacking tho imo; I don't know what exactly, song overall is nice but it can be forgotten easily imo

-Star: wow I wasn't ready for this one; vocals on point of course and it gives me some melancholic memories; as in walking under the sky in a starry night? I love it; probably my fav there (the rap can leave tbh; but it doesn't bother me that much so I don't mind it I guess lol)

-Memories: oooh liking this one! it sounds as something I would listen to while going around and it gives me good vibes; I love these type of songs and they slayed it

-Cantabile: back to their "magical" sound; it has some good and interesting parts but overall I didn't like it that much? it's not a bad song at all but I feel like the other songs are better?

-12 O'Clock: oh wow I didn't expect this at all? it sounds like a magical party? (I don't even know if that makes sense lmao) but it's really good and very different from what I heard about them; I kinda feel like some cabaret/jazzy vibes? (maybe just me); I'm actually shook I wasn't expecting this sound at all wow

-Ujung: ooh this one is very soft and beautiful I like it; it's very simple but at the same time I don't think it needs more? I like the way it is; a very good way to end the mini

So imo: 12 O'Clock > Memories > Star / La La Love > Ujung > Cantabile / You Got (but I loved all the mini for real)

Anyway sorry for the big review bye lmao ♥

I love miss Soobin, and I really love how she had more parts than SMSY I think, vocally it definitely seemed that way.

Probably one of my most favourite WJSN Album. All the tracks are good. The title track are contender for my favourite WJSN track of all time competeing with I Wish & Save Me Save You.

Honestly it's really hard for me to pick a favourite B-Side since all of it are really good. But if I have to pick, it will be Star. I really like song like Star.

These are my thoughts of the songs after hearing the b-sides 3 times and LLLove 100 times at this point :derp:

Idk what I’m talking about so these are just my feelings with nothing to back them up but my feelings :derp:

sorry for writing an essay :derp:

1.La La Love

I like how Bona starts the song, her vocal tone is a bit on the deeper side(?) or well at least it isn’t high pitched, it’s well appreciated. The acoustic(?) guitar is great, i don’t think I’d have ever expected that in a Wjsn song but I like how it’s used here. I like the sporadic raps they have in the song, rather than forcing a rap section in one part of the song. Yeoreum is also sing rapping in a deeper tone, and I love that. The random trap was cool. I love the prechorus(?) its probably the best parts of the song for me and it builds up amazingly. I personally think the chorus could’ve been worked on a bit, so most of it weren’t just “la la loveâ€, but the best parts were the “stayyy†bits. The 2nd rap also really good to me. How they take the acoustic guitar and put it back in during certain parts, rather than keeping it in the whole song, was a great idea to me. The bridge(?) was also my favorite part, Seola+ YJ and whoever else was doing vocals was really powerful to me. Imo, it’s their most interesting title. Probably my favorite too

2.You Got

It’s really funky(?) like something I’d hear from Michael Jackson’s era maybe? But with a WJSN twist. I love the vibe it has. The prechorus was good. The second verse was nice too, although they didn’t really do much different. Exy’s rap was really nice too. I love the bridge. YJ’s vocal’s really saved the song for me though at the end, it was perfect.

3.Star

A ballad like I thought it would be. It’s pretty and the vocals are nice. Exy’s rap is good Although I feel like, I would’ve liked it with or without the rap. But at the same time, the rap made it less predictable

4.Memories

I thought it would be a ballad the way it was starting, but it got way more interesting when they start singing. Memories kinda sounds like a Wjsn title track, like if they made it the title instead of having la la love, I probably wouldn’t have questioned it. I like how the strings get louder during Exy’s rap. I like that last bit of vocal right at the end.

5.Cantabile

I have no idea what to think of the way it sounds. It starts with that Wjsn sound, but the instruments are a bit distorted(?) or they did a similar sound just with different instruments, and then they have a breakdown in the chorus whew. Cantabile coming for that most interesting b-side in the album. I thought it would be Memories tbh. Only thing is, they repeat things the second time in the chorus without changing much. The song would’ve benefited a bit more had they don’t something a bit different in the chorus the second time. The breakdown was cool the first time, but they did the same thing again so it wasn’t *as cool* still cool, just not as much. I still like it though

6.12 o’clock

This is weird, but not in a bad way. Kinda reminds me a Disney dance type song in the middle of the movie. which isn’t a bad thing. Now theres a piano and it’s rising to something. Their minds. These cow bell like sounds. The transition from vocals to Exy rap was great too. I love the bass in the background, I didn’t notice it my first listen, but it’s really good. The bridge is amazing. I thought the song was ending when I first heard it but it ended up going on another 20 or so seconds. Probably the wildest song in this album. Also at this point, it’s probably my fav b-side

Edit: I keep hearing new things in this song when I hear it a new time, it’s def my fav now :derp:

7.Ujung

Not quite a ballad like I expected it to be. Acoustic ballad maybe? But it definitely isnt the average Kpop ballad. The acoustic guitar (?) is nice and their vocals are good. I like the snaps too, i didn’t need the cutesy rap. Their regular rap voice would’ve been great. I didn’t expect Ujung to be so “poppy†but imo it’s much much better than the ballad I was expecting it to be. I’ve been into Acoustic ballads(?) like this recently so i love this

Hi Sica! lovestruck.png (I'll just mention my favorite b-sides)

After streaming the album endlessly, I can definetly say La La Love overtook SMSY as my favorite WJSN title song. The song said screw it and gave all members equal time to shine! It also grows on you despite leaving the usual WJSN vibe. Exy's rap somehow slows down the tempo but is still within the beat.

Star is my favorite B-side especally when Exy spits fire, I thought the rap will never end. This ballad is just perfect harmonically.

UJUNG I'M PROUD OF COMPOSER NAM DAWON. They weren't joking when they said it shows her emotions, it's a mellow song yet as so much power.

WJSN really doesn't know how to release a bad song huh?

This album is awesome as expected. Glad the line distribution for La La Love is better than previous title tracks.

IKR?  Such quality.rlytearpls.png

I really liked every ones parts so much in La La Love it felt a lot more fair than SMSYsmile.png

Phew, Bluwu is the best.lovestruck.png  Such analysis.rlytearpls.png  I agree with mostly everything! I love the composition of all the tracks in terms of instrumentation it feels like they didn't just throw it together but carefully selected which sound would be best. idk it just sounds more refined than say Happy Moment songs.

You got sounds so smooth and funky I just enjoy it. But yeah 12O'clock is the gem for me I love it so much. Lalalove is everything.rlytearpls.png

A number of people have commented on how good their vocals are here, particularly when compared to their previous title tracks. SMSY and DCT have vocals that are clipped, percussive and help to drive the song. (For more examples, listen to Red Velvet's Russian Roulette or Twice's TT.) In La La Love the vocal phrasing is full and relaxed. I love the way they all sound.

2. You Got - I really like the funky/disco vibe of this song, it has quickly grown on me. I love this bass and classic starship/kpop effects. Vocals great of course.

Best bass line of the whole mini.

5.Cantabile - I love this song, its a great kpop song to me.

If WJSN and its producers were going for a "SMSY 2.0" they would've picked this good song as the title track. It's nice that they didn't. Good musical groups need to grow and explore new sounds.

Memories is a funny song. It starts off being chill, but when they hit the second chorus (around 1:45) they are in full space anthem title track mode. The chorus with synth strings is followed by Exy's no-time-to-breathe rap section then a high note (presumably Yeongjung's). Interesting track.

Yes! As I've been streaming lately, I keep coming back to your comment because its very true. You can hear the  full sound of their notes and its not inhibited by the music or the recording, especially ad libs. Which I really love!
