What was something nobody told you about college?

bring your own lunch cause you'll end up blowing your money on food so fast

also, don't forget to eat, im serious. I know a bunch of people during midterms or finals who get so caught up on studying they forget to eat

^ !!

honestly i still have a hard time remembering to eat during midterms/finals. im a commuter so its really important for me to try and pack things ahead of time to bring- its more expensive to buy food elsewhere to be honest.

if you dont eat at least something while studying you honestly burn out faster its better to be prepared ahead of time

If you have loans and you can get a refund on the amount overpaid then you will probably blow that money in a month.

You'll spend a ton of money on food.

Failing one test will really make everything serious.

What you think is a blow off class in college is really not one even though it's not for major.

It takes time and effort to build new friendships. Don't be surprised if you feel like you don't have any real new friends in the first few months of college.

^^^

this big time, i was so discouraged cause i didn't have proper friends the first couple of months, but everyone is on their own schedule its hard to build friendships. Honestly if you have a lab class thats the best place to make friends

TRUE. All my close friends from college I made from lab... we were the dumbest in the class and messed up all the experiments but it was so fun

It's even worse when your former HS classmates are posting all their new friends, parties, etc. on social media. Need to remember not to believe everything you see on social media.

Besides the school stuff, no-one told me how quickly four years would pass (it's ridiculous, honestly). Real life hasn't been awful especially the actually having money part, but the social life of college was still the most fun I've had so far in life. Don't just spend the days counting down when exams finish and the semester ends. It'll be hard and very stressful, but cherish the experience and the time spent with friends cause after the 4 years everyone will have to go their own way.

If you are going to fail a class DROP OUT of the class, it won't affect the rest of your grades if you do / Don't take college friendships too seriously, once you start having different classes you won't see each other as much, move on and make new ones in every class.

Differential Tuition: a million financial aid discussions and it literally never got brought up once. While doesn't make a whole lotta difference in the long run, it was nasty surprise in the tuition bill

Eating will feel like a chore: didn't think it was possible, but between all the other crap I have to do, having to stop working to have a meal felt like a total obligation which I would sometimes skip out on and boy did it fuck up my health. Same with sleep tbh

It's normal to have nightmares about your assignments/workload: I asked one of my professor about this as a joke but he was dead serious like "yep, sounds about right." Normal =/= Good btw, just that you're not alone
