People have been talking about his talent in giving speeches. BTS’ leader and rapper appears both sincere and honest when he addresses an audience -- whether during a concert or an awards show. And his words have sometimes moved those listening to tears, once again proving that he is a force to be reckoned with. Here are our top three moments when RM melted hearts with moving speeches. 1. 2019 Golden DiscOn Sunday, the K-Pop sensation BTS won the top prize in the album sales category at the 33rd Golden Disc Awards held at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul. After winning the trophy, RM grabbed the mic and said, “First and foremost, I will attribute this glory to Armys all around the world who are sharing this moment right now.†“2018 was the year when our efforts, which we made since our debut, came to fruition, and we had so many generous titles tagging along (with) us, which had actually been excessive, burdensome and heavy for us. Maybe that’s why we went through hardships early last year,†he continued. “We’d thought, maybe we were overfilling our plate -- more than what we’d wanted, more than our ambitions. We’d wondered if this was what we really wanted. But we came to realize that how to interpret our name and titles was up to us. Many would have felt shocked when first hearing our group name. We tried to hide our name up until our debut. But now, the name BTS suits us naturally, right?†He wrapped up the lengthy speech by saying, “So we believe that if we keep working hard, those generous titles that had once bugged us would fit us and feel natural someday. You also believe so, right? It took us 4 1/2 years to win this prize, and now we are here, but we are just borrowing this place. We will never get arrogant and keep working hard with our members and staff. I love you.â€During the two-day event, BTS took home a total of six awards, including the Album Division Bonsang, NetEase Music Golden Disc Popularity Award and U+ Idol Live Popularity Award. 2. 2018 Melon Music AwardsRM once again left fans in awe after giving an impressive speech for winning big at the 2018 Melon Music Awards that took place in Seoul in December last year. The biggest awards of the night went to BTS, as the band received the best artist of the year award and the best album of the year award for its “Love Yourself: Tear†album. After expressing his love for Army, RM walked down memory lane -- all the way back to 2004. “Back in 2004, when MelOn was launched, I had received a piece of paper that advertised MelOn on my way home from school,†he said. “And it’s such an honor that we received the best album of the year award 14 years later here today. And I think highly of how people still purchase albums, which aren’t necessary in the era where songs are consumed like instant food,†he added.His speech was highly praised by fans on social media. 3. Berlin concertDuring an ending speech at BTS’ concert at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Berlin in October last year, RM weighed in on the history of both countries by addressing division. “As you may know, I live in Korea, you guys live in Germany. We live in two different countries, maybe 11, 12 hours of flight away, but you know what? We share the same pain. It’s called division. So we lived in two divided countries, your country is not now, but our Korea is still is,†he said. He went on to share a personal story. “There’s a piece of the Berlin Wall displayed near the river called Cheonggyecheon Stream in Seoul and I’ve been there to see it. And I couldn’t help but think about you guys. So you know, we might look different, speak different, eat different, live different, but we share the same heart. We’re not just some random people who met by coincidence. I feel like we met here by destiny. “Someday I wish that the piece of Berlin wall in Korea could be displayed in Berlin,†he added. Even when I don’t understand bc of the language barrier, I can still feel his words because of how genuine he is. To be so young but have such a broad, wise mindset....That’s very special.
