Red Velvet musical decline?

IMO their last good songs were Bad Boy/Peekaboo

It's really weird to me cause I'm used to them usually putting out bops but idk what SM is doing

I'm sure they have A LOT of good songs in their arsenal they can be giving them, and RV can fit pretty much any aesthetic, so I'm just confused.

BTW their b sides are really good I know that... but the title/mv are the face of the albums

Sappy & Bad Boy >>>>> any Big 3 GG releases this year.

But yes, they’ve had two misses in a row with their last Korean comebacks...

With that said, RBB B-sides are some of the best songs released in Kpop in a long ass while.

Why is sm purposely sabotaging the though...

Is SM trying to test their brand/fandom power?

Smth like if they're still successful even with mediocre title tracks they'll go on tour?

I wouldnt even call Sappy a Rv comeback, since there was nearly no promo at all

PU and RBB were meh, idgaf about them, but I think having one of the widely considered best songs of last year snuffs out of their mediocrity + with all their bsides on both minis being amazing

Yes, sappy and RBB are really really bad, it's horrible as shit. SM have been dissapointing with their groups for 2018, even TVXQ!'s latest title track sounds boring and there's barely hype about them. Same goes for SNSD's Lil Touch which is not really up to my taste. EXO's Tempo and Love are no different, just another typical jazzy R&B songs with typical chorus, you get the drill.

SM groups are on declining musically and that reflects on their sales as well. Look at how bad TVXQ!, Super Junior and SNSD's korean comebacks have been doing for the past 3 years, they are flopping so hard. They took the whole orchestra-jazzy-swing concepts too far ahead and lost their original sounds. They should slap Yoo Young Jin and Kenzie in the face and ask them to make something like Keep Your Head Down, MAMA, Don't Don't or MAXIMUM again.

well they are a group that has and will continue to experiment with their music

so not surprising that there will be some misses for people

to call it a "decline" is silly imo especially since all their albums have continued to be quality and not a repeat of past sounds

I could see what SM was going for with Power Up, but RBB and Sppy are very strange choices. RV have had highs and lows throughout their career though,so we'll see what their next Korean comeback brings.

It seems like SM has been trying too hard to make them quirky and different to the point it's starting to backfire.
