The Official Japanese Music Suggestion Thread

DocumentaLy

Recommended Posts

Hello there! I hope you don't mind if I post this, but if any of you are fans of the jrock, this is a new group I surely would like to recommend all of you!

They are porehead and they just released their first single, Amethyst. I hope you enjoy it!

I'm a link to youtube because I don't know how to embed the video (?)

Hi. You new here in OH? Welcome.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm listening to it right now. If you want to embed a video here, just paste the youtube link on your post. No need to use the link button, simply paste the link. :)

Hi. So after a couple years of mostly listening to Kpop with a few Jpop here and there on the side, I'm looking to expand my J-music list. Just so I don't get recommendations for artists/groups I already listen to, here's a list of my faves so far: 7!!, Ai Otsuka, Ayaka, Ayaka Hirahara, Bright, Choucho, FictionJunction, FLOWER, Ikimono Gakari, Kalafina, MACO, Mika Nakashima, miwa, Sayuri Sugawara aka The SxPlay, and Utada Hikaru. Yeah, I'm into female vocalists more than male vocalists. I'm open to any suggestions, as long as they're not an idol group or J-rock (prefer Jpop more).

I'm curious if you guys could rec me any female soloists similar to Natsumi Kiyoura or IU? Someone with upbeat, but still kinda chill music I suppose.

Kana Nishino might be someone you'll like. Thank You, Love and Love Place are good albums to start with.

I'm going to suggest Leo Ieiri, too. You might like her, you might not. She's hit or miss with some people, but I really like her. Start with her debut album Leo.

Leo Ieiri is really good too, I'll prolly listen to more of her after I get through this Kana playlist.

Can anyone recommend me any male singers with low pitched voices? I would prefer ballad singers, but I'm open to listening to other genres as well just not metal. Thanks.

I think best of albums are the best way to familiarize yourself with specific singers so maybe you should try looking for his "Singles Best" and "Singles B-Side Best" albums.

Also, since you mentioned one of his covers it would be a good idea for you to check out his covers series. Each of his cover albums is called Vocalist. Or you could start with his "Vocalist & Ballade Best."

As for song recommendations, I like:

Hi everyone. This is my first post in this thread. I was reorganizing my old iPod a few weeks ago, then I found some tracks by Japanese artists. I almost forgot that I used to be a casual listener of Fantastic Plastic Machine (FPM) since I was in junior high school ca. 14 years ago lol. I also didn't realize I have Advantage Lucy on my iTunes original folder. Such throwbacks...

So I'd like to ask u here, if anyone into FPM and Advantage Lucy, do u have any suggestions for (1) FPM new singles that are nice to listen to and (2) similar band(s) to Advantage Lucy whose genre is Swedish pop-ish? Thank u! Edited by waterbearer

Hello! I'm new here, I'd like to listen to jpop music but I don't know where to start.

I liked Arashi and AKB48 but aside from their songs, I'm not used to japanese releases anymore. Thanks :)

It depends on what you're looking for. If you want idols, go the idol thread.

I am searching for sth similar to YUI, my favourit song of her is Again. I was obsessed with that song (and also downloaded her albums) one or two years ago.

It came up in my shuffle yesterday and reminded me of how much I liked it. Hope someone can help me~

There are a ton of YUI clones out right now. Ohara Sakurako, miwa, Leo Ieiri, Rihwa, Katahira Rina...

So, question - does anyone know of any J-Pop girl groups, idol singers or otherwise, that have three members?

I know Perfume's one of them, but I have to wonder if there's any other three-person J-Pop girl groups out there...  :._.:

Does anyone know of any good electronic music??

GET THE NEW PARKGOLF ABLUM!

He does a lot of sampling, and one of the samples he used is the one of my favorite songs ever:

He also sampled a Ciara song.

A trailer for the album:

This album was mastered by Seiho. A song of his:
