Can anyone recommend me artists (preferably female soloists) similar to k-indie artists like Standing Egg or 10cm who sing mellow, coffee shop type of music, or who sings songs with a sound similar to these?

Hi, looking for some recommendations on some recent (2016-2017) stuff as I haven't kept up with Japanese music these past couple of years. Some of my favourite Japanese acts (at least my recently most played) are Sakanaction, ayaka, haruka to miyuki, Base Ball Bear. Used to listen to a lot of AKB48, AAA, EXILE, etc but not as much recently.

Interested in indie/rock/folk/pop music. Thanks!

Well, to start, there was a new Base Ball Bear album ("Kougen" - lead song is "Subete wa Kimi no Sei de") and a new ayaka single ("

") both released in the last few weeks.  Sakanaction put out a new single titled "Tabun, Kaze" last October, as well.  Going forward, I'll try and suggest a few things from those genres that I happen to be particularly fond of from last/this year.

Ohashi Trio - "

" & "
"

Gotch - "

" & "
"

Ryokuoushoku Shakai - "

"

Yamashita Tatsuro - "CHEER UP! THE SUMMER"

Keishi Tanaka - "

" & "
"

Negoto - "ETERNALBEAT"

the dresscodes - "

"

Ame no Parade - "Tokyo"

Makihara Noriyuki - "

"

I've more, but I think these should give me a better idea of exactly what you're looking for.  Enjoy!

Bit of a delayed response, but thanks for all this. Enjoyed most of it, but in particular I really liked Ryokuoushoku Shakai, Gotch, Negoto, Makihara Noriyuki, and Ohashi Trio.

Would you happen to know happen to know anywhere I could find their albums to stream/digitally purchase?

It's no problem - glad that you enjoyed most of it.  The only Ryokuoushoku Shakai release out there unfortunately hasn't leaked or been put up for sale anywhere digitally, so even I haven't heard the full thing yet.  Makihara Noriyuki is likewise kind of hard to find on any internationally available retail/streaming site; I've been looking for a while with no luck.  As far as the others though, all of Gotch's material can be found for sale on Ototoy or Spotify, Negoto's on Spotify as well, as is Ohashi Trio.

recommend me pop rock bands like Do As Infinity that also have a female vocalist and are still active?

(please don't recommend Flower Flower--I already know about them, and I much prefer Yui's old solo material over her new material as a band)
