KaniPi 2,626 Posted January 4, 2019 Share Posted January 4, 2019 I was filling in a form at my clinic today, and some guy (who was with a girl) was staring at me (God knows why), then when I started talking to my mum in a different langauge, he saw him calling us "fucking freshies" for no reason? Are people that ignorant, that they think people only speak one language? Worst still- both of them were the same colour as me! So, there is a 50% chance your parents are also "freshies" then, because came here from abroad and settled down. It just made me really upset, so instead of confronting them... I went up to reception and said in English loud enough "I'll give this to you on Monday!" then ignored the hell out of them, didn't even bother looking at them and went away. I just don't get why I was targeted. 1) Why someone think its fine to make a stranger, uncomfortable like that for no reason 2) Insulting them by calling them an offensive word, because they're not speaking English. 3) Seriously racism is disgusting, but even worse when you uh look the same. 4) This is why I hate going outside. 5) I will die alone. I guess I also thought he was saying that to get attention. He was staring at me before. Also, it was really unexpected so I was taken aback. I didn't know how to react. The only thing that would offend me is someone attacking my personality and lowering my self esteem. I don't know about you, different things hurt different people. True, but race/religion is really personal to insult about. Its basically how you identify yourself. Also, I guess it is stereotyping...and there is nothing wrong with being a foreigner? Why put someone down because they don't speak English. Also, if they are the same colour, its like saying "I speak English, so I am better than you". I hate ignorant people that look down on others like that. I agree, that is offensive too, but that is quite generic, because a stranger won't know what you're really like, and insulting looks can get old quickly, since we know its due to insecurity. blond jenissi 676 Posted January 4, 2019 Share Posted January 4, 2019 these people are so hard for me to understand but i dont bother anymore; no matter how much you use facts and logic to make them understand what they're doing is wrong and so is their way of thinking, they'll never understand don't let them ruin you day, dont let them stop you from doing things you'd normally do imo ignoring them is the best decision, nothing good would come out from talking to close-minded people and many racists tend to be violent and get angry easily. You can say whatever you want about me concerning my religion and I won't care. However, for race, I'd actually feel a little hurt that's all.
