Top 5 ranking of favourite candidates to star in the future NHK morning drama (Asadora) 

 

In December it was announced that Erika Toda will be starring in the Asadora "Scarlet" that will start in the latter half of 2019.  The news was well welcomed but there was also talk on sns that it would be nice to see fresh new faces selected by an audition for the future Asadoras. Here is a list of young actresses that are expected to rise in 2019 who were named as "future Asadora candidates".

She is not in this list but i would personally add Mokas older sister Mone to list too

 

 

 

Kamishiraishi sisters are really talented and pretty and they are both rising young actresses

Mayu Matsuoka, Kuroshima Yuina and Yoshimoto Miyu would be my pick. They have the look.

Arimura Kasumi also got a main role after having a siderole in an Asadora thus people who had sideroles (like Mayu and Miyu) aren't excluded.

I think they shouldn't cast too young. Several of the last Asadora suffered since the lead was too young and unconvincing.

she's already a NHK darling so I think there are high chances to see her as asadora heroine in the near future , sooooo ... till we reach that moment just give me 10  additional seasons of Ashi Girl

Would go for Moka instead, I think she is the most suitable actress for upcoming asadora (after that one with Toda). Just don't ever, ever cast her into characters that obviously beyond her range, such as grandma (!!!) in Beppin-san and Warotenka. If she were to star in an asadora, her character age range should be limited to under 30 years old, i.e. like that of Amachan or Hiyokko, or Hanbun Aoi.

 

Hamabe on the other hand would give the directors a really, really tough time as she isn't simply up to standard, acting wise. Meanwhile Kaya might be the most overpowered actress in the age group - she might never need an asadora to prop herself up. She is like a combination of charisma of Suzu, vibe of Komatsu Nana (which top-tier movie directors really fond of), and skills of Matsuoka Mayu. I know Sakurada was decent child actress but lately as she becomes a teenage actress she hasn't yet to prove her worth. Her current projects are plain uninteresting (Saki was a complete waste of talent).

 

I think limiting the list into 5 actresses simply doesn't make sense, there are tons of 1997-2000 and 2000-2003 liner actresses who also deserve to be on the list and the cohorts as a whole are quite talented.

 

My picks: Matsumoto Honoka (I think this year will be hers), Hotta Mayu (a classic beauty but sadly very underrated, would be fantastic option for period-themed asadora), Tsunematsu Yuri, Yamada Anna. Older candidate(s) for heroine that extend to older age: Tsuchimura Kaho (I think Manpuku should be given to her instead of Sakura Ando).

I don't think current Mayu needs an asadora. If it was 2-3 years ago (before Manbiki Kazoku and Katte ni Fuetero became hits) then it would've made perfect sense. The other two are okay, remember that Asa ga Kita turned Haru from just another actress into more credible performer (but her acting back then wasn't that horrendous btw and hence the directors still can make it work). 

 

I second the second point, whoever cast Wakanda Aoi and Yoshine as grandmas deserve to be fired on spot and never given any jobs again.

Among these 5, my pick would be Kaya or Hiyori. I just love their acting.
