Should ifans stop telling fansites not to whitewash idols?

A fansite called Fairy White (Nature's Uchae's fansite) just closed because fans kept asking the admin not to whitewash her photos

And I see this often with bigger groups too. There are twitter accounts dedicated to unwhitewashing idols but some fansites do not allow the editing of their photos

No. If these fansites want to put pictures of idols they've edited to look like a sheet of paper on an international platform for consumption, they need to be prepared for potential criticism from an international audience.

they can just ignore the fansites that whitewash rather than bullying them off social media. plus the ifans who "unwhitewash" idols are also weird. most of the time they just ps the idol to an unflattering orange tone. it's like.. they're not orange either.

That's the least thing to be concerned about. I mean people don't mind some members being blurred almost to blend in with the background but no they complain about whitewashing

Yes.

iFans don't pay fansite masters for their work. So if iFans don't like some fansites' photos they should just unfollow those fansites, mute them or even block them.

Stop supporting fansites you don't like. Stop consuming their work, stop retweetting their photos, stop buying their photobooks, stop participating in their projects.

But it's wrong to harass them, to call them out just because people wanna seem like "woke" ones.

Bullying is the worst problem on Internet, so if someone wants to be woke, then online violence is the the first thing to take some actions against of it.

Depends on how manipulated the idols skin is for me. I don't mind a bit of brightening but when they blatantly get rid of their natural pigment to the point it's unrealistic and alters our reality of what we think that idol looks like I get upset. Mind you, it's also not okay to claim they're way darker than they naturally are, either.

Yes, even more because the idols are putting filters where they look paper white or looking like nuns under the sun, and the fansites are the ones taking the pics, they should do with them whatever they want

But i'm not okay with them pulling shit like this

It's complicated

This.

Also I think is okay just to ask for the fansites to stop the whitewashing, just like people can voice their discontent when a character from a movie is whitewashed, fans can have a say on idols whitewashed pics too, but harassment or bullying fansite is too much.

And I don't really get the argument that fansite do worse things but people complaining about whitewashing, well ifans can't do nothing against stalkers and sasaengs, all they can is voice their opinions about it and that's what they do.

Some white wash some just brighten the pictures. Just let it be. It’s not the job of Ifans to change the social colorist scene in Korea. Do your thing and mind your business.
