What do you think of people who don't pay their student loans?

I think it's a shitty broken system.

The struggle is real out here, I understand

Well, the student loan in my country is very fair because you only pay that amount without interest. I heard that some of them purposely don't pay the loans

Doesn't it come out of your pay check once you earn a certain amount? That's how it works here. So the only way to purposely not pay is to not earn much money....which isn't a great long term plan.

If they have the money and don't pay, I guess I don't understand that. I don't like owing people money, so I'd want to pay it off and not have it hanging over my head - but that's just me. If they don't have the money to pay, then I understand that because it's rough out there and if there's limited income, most people will choose paying for food or other things they need to survive before thinking of their student loans.

My country have an option which allows you to voluntary pay certain amount every month. If you want to autopay certain amount from your salary to your student loan, you have to apply for it online.

Me too. I don't like to owe people money, usually I would pay it asap with money or meals

Those people would purposely not pay the student loans because they want the latest gadgets and holidays

It depends. Pursuing tertiary education isn't even in the mindset of most people here, and with this economy it's still great to see people try despite not having the money for it.

That being said, I don't really mind as long as they give back to the country (and legit cannot afford to pay back). Otherwise if they can pay it off but don't it's selfish.

Oh i see. Well yeah people just aren't going to pay it then if they don't have to. Here it just gets skimmed off your paycheck automatically  once you earn over a certain amount and if you somehow don't pay it then the Tax office will come for you at the end of the financial year anyway.

I'm from America lmao. I don't know where you're from but I'm not stalling my payments ATM simply just because I don't want to pay. I can't afford it atm.

Student debt over here will literally cost you an arm and leg. I plan on paying eventually nonetheless.

Heart goes out to medical and Ivy League graduates who have an insane amount of debt for their entire lifetime.

over here you have to get a job earning a specific amount before you have to start paying off your student debts I believe.

I don't blame some people it's really expensive, I think England's got the highest uni fees in Europe ://

if university is gonna be treated like a necessity then it should be easily accessible bc some of the fees are ridiculous

It really depends, if you don't have a plan to pay off your loans knowing how it can bankrupt people most of y'all should have a plan.

If you major in dance don't expect you're going to get a six figure paying job.

If they don’t have a stable income or really can’t afford to pay it, then I understand. But I’ve seen selfish people who can afford a nice yearly trip to oversea, an import car (which way more expensive than local one) and high end stuff but still don’t want to pay their students loan.
