Question for the Frenchies of Onehallyu

Do you know of any French shows that sort of center around food? Like how Korea has a lot of food shows, I can't imagine the gourmet country having none of those lol. I watched the French version of the Chef's Table on Netflix and I enjoyed that as well.

I want to keep my French a bit up to date and I think watching shows would help. I don't like French movies/series enough to watch 'em regularly. A trashy reality show would be right up my alley as well.

Humm ... there is a show called "Un diner presque parfait"

It's about people competing for a week so they could gain 1000€

Each day one of them has to do dinner, dessert and decorate their table with a theme they choosed. They all get to eat at this person's house and rate the meals

Some times there's some drama lmao, participants can't always stand each others

There's a French version of kitchen nightmares, definitely not as trash as the US one but it's entertaining. It's not airing anymore but you can find some episodes on YouTube I believe. Then all the ones mentioned above (I really like le meilleur pâtissier. And the guy presenting the show is from the south west and has a stronger accent than you may be used to hear so it's good for oral comprehension!)

The french Top chef is the most professional version, there are some michelin star restaurant sous chefs for ex. Basically the brightest stars of french cuisine (at least public brightest stars, not everybody likes to go on shows) are there, the level is always sky high.

I don't know if you can find it with eng subs though, I guess you'll have to search it up.

Le meilleur pâtissier has two versions (that I know of) with different types of tasks: one for amateurs and one for professionals. I like the amateur one for good laughs sometimes and the pro one to be amazed

Edit: just remembered there’s a show with some chef named Norbert I think where he basically takes a person absolutely useless in the kitchen and teaches them how to make a go to dish that could impress anybody. What’s funny is that these people are reported to the show by others around them that find their food inedible. It’s basically a classic case of « I think I’m such a good cook because I’m delusional but nobody else does and they’re too afraid to tell me to my face Â»
