Do you consider fair/lighter skinned people to be South East Asian?

I think it was wrong to group them together because then the latter couldn't fight racism against themselves. As far as I know most light skinned people in South East Asia have mixed ancestry (usually Chinese) so it's not even biologically right, and in the west most South East Asians talk as if there are two concepts.

if you're south east asian... you're south east asian. most east asians don't even look like snowflakes.

What i mean is like, there are Chinese people in Thailand and plenty who are mixed ancestry who consider themselves to be South East Asian, but in Malaysia and Singapore these people aren't considered South East Asian

What are you even saying... that south East Asians aren’t south East Asians?

I find it reall bizzare that people consider light skinned SEA to be SEA racially. Most of the SEA I know will talk about "colorism against SEA" and stuff like that.

I just came here to say the majority of South East Asians online make me cringe.

I think they use the 'East' in their names as an excuse to be Weaboos/Koreaboos. idontthinksobetchplz.png

Literally the most embarrassing thing... and all the East Asians can actually do are just sit their like

um what? Just because a SEA person has light skin doesn't mean they're not SEA, and SEA isn't a race, the term refers to people from all Southeast Asian countries. I'm of Vietnamese heritage and the maternal side of my family have lighter skin compared to my paternal side of the family, however no one in my family has any Chinese or East Asian heritage at all. Plus my grandparents originally came from North Vietnam and northern Viets are said to have lighter skin than southern Viets.

excuse you? You know there exists Chinese who are weeaboos/Koreaboos, Japanese who are Koreaboos, and Koreans who are weeaboos, right? And there are Southeast Asians with East Asian ancestry, you know, like the majority of Singaporeans are of Han Chinese ethnicity. Also, since when has any Viet, Thai, Indonesian, Filipino, etc. ever used "East" in the term Southeast Asian to be weeaboos or Koreaboos?

I'm South Indian and in the West we tend to consider ourselves to be a subrace. I know that something similar happens in Singapore with Chinese/Malay too.

I kinda understand what you're going to do but human classification is complicated and Southeast Asia people gene pool is like a spectrum (?) so we're inherently mixed.

Southeast Asian isn't a race.

From the 4 or 5 race clarifications, most of them considered as Mongoloid, Malayo Magoloid, but it's a oversimplified concept, and not genetically accurate.

Native Dayak Tribe and Sundanese are native and they famous for having fair skin.

Even within native ethnic Southeast Asian we come in various shade.

Agreed.

Am a dark skinned Sundanese though. But majority of my family are fair skinned so it's true that we come in various shade

What... I feel offended by this honestly. I'm Chinese, proud to be Chinese and I consider myself South East Asian. If you ask the Chinese population in SG, most of us would agree. SEA culture is very different from South Asia culture and we've been in this region for generations, so much so that we don't even have any close ties to China other than our forefathers having been from there. Skin colour has nothing to do with being South East Asian. There are also plenty of Natives that are light-skinned. So what if most of the light-skinned SEA have mixed ancestry, it doesn't matter, and frankly nobody really cares. It's what on the inside that matters to us more
