Does practice really make perfect? Or do you still suck?

I got taught by someone back in high school that practice doesn't make perfect instead "practice makes permanent".

Which is true cos if you're doing it wrong and you continue to practice that way it becomes permanent.

You can definitely become proficient in any skill (given you don't have any real physical or physiological limiting factor) if you practice right. Not all practices are equal. If one practices while slacking off every few minutes then that doesn't equal someone using the same amount of time efficiently. Also you have to be practicing the right techniques or else you will be learning it wrong. So yes, if you practice right.

It does in the sense that it brings you from inconsistent to consistent. Does it makes you better? Well if it's something new, obviously you'll get better, but you'll, at one point, reach your ceiling (the point when it takes too much effort to improve for little) and from there it's pretty much about maintaining your form. Now lets hope the ceiling is pretty decent. But generally it is. Some idols weren't picked for their dancing talent, but after years of training, the result is pretty good enough.
